I like how Grange and Nagurski are next to each other. Too bad the "3" and "77" are also the most obvious numbers - if some of the other numbers were clear, that would be another way to get at who the players are. I think I see:

4, 1?, 77 (Grange), 3 (Nagurski)
16 (Musso), 15, 44 (Ray Richards?), 1?

Default To Grange's right...

I can't see numbers but the player to Grange's right looks a lot like Jack Manders.

Nice call on the Jack Manders - I agree with that. So we have:

4-?, 10-(Jack Manders), 77-(Grange), 3-(Nagurski)
16-(Musso), 15-?, 44-(Ray Richards), 1?-?

Default 1933 Bears

I think the guy under Nagurski is Link Lyman. It looks like the number behind the 1 on the jersey has the arch of a 2. Besides, the distinctive "V" shaped hairline would tell me it's probably Lyman.

Also, I believe the number 4 on the player to Manders right is Keith Molesworth. He was the QB/HB on the team and wore number 4. That would complete the backfield.

The two in the middle of the bottom row were probably starting linemen as were Musso and Lyman. A bit more photo matching has to be done.

Thanks Ray. Just one "?" left now. We have L-R, T-B:

Molesworth, Manders, Grange, Nagurski
Musso, ?, Richards, Lyman

The seller is calling it 33, and interestingly Manders, Grange, and Richards are listed as the first 3 subs in the 33 Championship game summary (with Molesworth, Nagurski, Musso, and Lyman as starters).

Using your reasoning of backs in top row, lineman in bottom row, that makes best guess for unknown player:

LG Jules Carlson
C Okie Miller
RG Joe Kopcha
reserve C Bert Pearson

I think that might be #15 Bill Buckler. In this team photo he is at the top, 5th from the left.

Thanks for the 32 team photo and thanks to everyone for their help! I'll document it as:

Molesworth, Manders, Grange, Nagurski
Musso, Buckler, Richards, Lyman
