Are the all the T4 images the same ones used in the regular Obak sets? Certainly Cutshaw is and the others look very familiar as well ...

I've only seen a few pics of these. Are they blank backed or is there anything on the reverse? I really like them. They're very "plain" but there's something nice about these T4's.

Has anyone ever seen a Vancouver or Victoria T4? I know SCD lists a couple from Victoria, but I've never seen any at auction or heard of any in any collections.

zach...they're blank blacked although some have writing in pencil to designate card # or player name and are believed to be original from the factory. chack out jim's site...he has a bunch of them front and back.

i've never seen one of a victoria player but then again I havent seen more that 20-25 of them ever!!!

Thanks for the info. I checked out the site (must have missed that when I read through this post). The handwriting is consistant... has that old school "Ty Cobb-ish" look to it. Very neat. How much do these bad boys normally go for? Also, I noticed on the scans of the backs you can see the ring from the front. Are the rings raised up in the front? Hard to tell from the scans.

Yeah, I looked them up in SMR and they all have N/A under prices. I figured that meant they were rare/expensive. Were they something that had to be requested or what?

Yes, they had to be requested as a premium. Here is an obak coupon with list of players

here's the header info from lew lipsets last auction in nov where he featured a mother load of t4's

"One of the rarest issues known. Coupons inserted in packs of 1911 Obak cigarettes could be accumulated and redeemed for a premium. The 5" x 7" cards consist of a 5" x 3 1/2" oval picture embossed on a blank gray cardboard. The photos in most cases, match the poses used in the T212 1911 Obak set. Theoretically, a premium exists for each of the 175 players in the 1911 Obak set. The reality is that at the time of publication of The Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards in 1986, 29 Obak Premiums were known. In 2005 Krause Standard Catalog only listed 37 known full premiums. Premiums are not identified with the players name, however, almost all had a number written in pencil on the rear of the card which can be easily identified by looking at the checklist of the 1911 Obak set on the coupon issued with the set (click here for Illustration). It was also possible, though not common to find the number engraved on the plate and thus appearing on the lower right portion of the front of the card. All cards have a crossed bats and ball symbol appearing in white on most cards. Cards have been found that have been trimmed around the oval. I believe the following group is the largest ever publicly offered of full cards and include all those issued for the San Francisco Seals."
