Default Weber Bakery Wagner-real?

I can post now since the seller ended the auction. Was obviously interested but dont know enough about the issue and hear there are so many counterfeit/reprints out there. Anybody have thoughts on it being authentic? Love to hear them.

Hi George,

The card is fake. There's been a few threads in the past on the d304 reprints.
This is one of the "better" reprints.

Rob

From some research I know that the card was reprinted and such, but in this instance how would I be able to tell. I guess it just takes experience. I can spot a T206 fake/reprint easily but how do you tell on this isssue, anything stand out?

George,

I don't know much about these cards either BUT;

1) The seller is from Canada. A lot of fake cards on eBay come from a couple of different areas: Canada, the tri state region of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky and the Aniston, Alabama area. If rare or high dollar cards are from those areas, be careful.

2) The seller's Feed Back is kind of low at 98.9%.

3) Look at what else the seller has listed for sale. Currently, they are offering low dollar items and only 1989 Topps baseball checklists. How does that fit with an old, rare, high dollar baseball card? It doesn't really. So, how did they get the Wagner card, luck?

4) Probably MOST important in this case, the seller KNOWS the value of the card, KNOWS about grading companies and auction houses AND tells you, the prospective buyer, about population reports. If they know this much then WHY didn't they spend the money to GET THE CARD GRADED!!!!??????

If the card is potentially worth between $2,000 and $6,000 dollars, WHY isn't the card graded? Why are they starting the bidding at $149 and have a Buy It Now of $750? Does ANY of that make sense? I don't think so.

I don;t have a lot of money right now and I KNOW the economy is down BUT, I think I could scrounge up enough money to get a card like this graded if I thought the potential value could be $2,000 and I am only asking $750 as a BIN price. Get my drift? Spend $100 dollars for a potential return of $1,250.

I hear you on all your points. Trust me, I do. But, and its few and far between...I have ran into some stranger things on ebay once or twice and they have turned out well even though the odds were against it. Of course there is always that fear of a reprint/intended scam and it happens way more that the alternative. I wanted to know if anyone knows how to look at the card and tell its a fake/reprint from looking at the scan/pic.

Blatant fake, you shouldn't see the dot pattern with the naked eye. Also when viewing with a loop, the dot pattern should not go into the name font at all. Dan.
