Hello ,
Yes I do . The red sox blue sox pins are circa 1930s They came 10 each in the set 10 blues ten greens for a total of 20 . They are called position pins In nice shape they sell from 8-20 dollars each. The other set is called leader pins there are 13 known pins in this set but there may be more of them. Also circa 1930s. I believe there is a ruth pin in the set which is the most expensive. hope that put a little light on them.

Doesn't the Grove pin say 1932 on top? It looks like 19 on the left and 32 on the right of the pin

keith, the 1932 on the pin is the year he led league with a 2.84 era. so maybe the pin is from 1933?

Guys:

Yes, the Grove pin says 1932 on the top. However, Hornsby batted 0.424 in 1924 -- 8 years earlier. So, these pins apparently talked about MLB Leaders over several years. I would think that you would have to look at all 13 pins known to exist before you could figure out the earliest possible year that they could have been issued in.

Because the Hornsby pin talks about a record in 1924 and the Grove pin talks about a record in 1932, I was concerned that the pin set could have been issued much later -- perhaps in the 1950's.

The Hornsby pin refers to "Highest Percentage Batter since 1900" whereas the Grove pin simply says "Pitcher" with an earned run average, clearly not the all time record. Since Grove's number is a league leader but by no means historically important, I'd think the pins were issued, as stated above, about the time of the stated Grove's ERA leading season.

You're probably right that these were issued in 1932 or 1933. Between 1926 and 1937, Lefty's ERA of 2.84 in 1932 was the highest. So, as you said, not at all significant.

I believe your pins are from three different sets.

PM-3 Positions . . PM-4 Positions . . PR-5 Baseball Leaders

PM-3 Positions consist of 12 pins in a set. Nine position players,
Batsman, Captain, and Umpire. Two sets: 1 1/4" and 7/8". Gold
backgrounds.

PM-4 Positions consits of 12 pins in a set. Same as PM-3. Two sets:
Red Sox and Blue Sox with white backgrounds. 1 1/4"

PR-5 Baseball leaders consist of 16 pins I believe. Big League Leader
- 5 pins . . American League Leader - 4 pins . . National League
Leader - 7 pins. Red, White, and Blue. 13/16"

The Babe Ruth pin is in the Big League Leader group. "Most Home Runs
Per Season, Babe Ruth, N.Y. A.L. 60 in 1927. Seven leader pins are for
years 1931 and 1932. No pins with later dates. Good guess for issue
year for leader pins is 1933.
