Classic photo of the gathering of 13 HOFers. Depicted on the back page of Toots Shor's restaurant menu (NYC....circa 1950).

Note, a mellow-looking 65 year old Ty Cobb.

And, check-out the MENU prices ? ?

Ted,

An old timer I know has that same menu. I always thought it was a cool pic. Any idea on value? I've been wanting to buy it from him, but he won't ever name a price...

While were on the topic of resturants my grandparents gave me these about 8 years ago, their probably nothing special but unique. Ash-Trays from Lefty O'Doul's and Bill Zuber's Resturant.

What a great, great picture. I can't believe that Cy Young, at that age, still had the exact same dang hairstyle as in his T206 portrait! haha. That one made me smile.

It's also interesting to look at how different the food was - sardines as an appetizer?? Generally it's much simpler. I imagine that at that time a curry with a chutney was so cutting edge it was downright exotic.

I always loved this thing. A huge heavy metal statue, probably from the 50's
marketing Blatz Beer in a baseball theme. The bottle is the catcher, the can
is sliding into home, and the barrel is the ump signaling a safe slide.
17" tall, 18" wide and weighs a ton. Love it!!!!!!!

A season pass for a one year team that didn't even make it through the whole season in Omaha. Their stadium was damaged by high winds early in the year and a few months later it burned down and they finished out the season in Rock Island, IL.

You guys do know there is a Net 54 Vintage Memorabilia Forum linked above for more of this stuff? Would love to see more guys posting over there.

I have to live in the past, my team is going down the crapper once again...

Tony, that Blatz piece is definitely from the fifties.

You do make a valid point. There is a Memorabilia Forum now and I hope that future "show your memorabilia" threads will go over there.....It is the proper place for them. No major offense but it would help if folks post this kind of stuff over there..best regards

He would have been 70 years old when that photo was taken. And it looks like he didn't age much at all. Unless he had a son who could have been his twin, that is him.

Dan. I believe it was intended to be an award of some type. It is solid bronze and has three holes on the back for mounting purposes. I've had it 15 years. I'll post it on the other board.

The names at the bottom of this photo identify him as "Ed Walsh".

Ed Walsh's son pitched for Chicago (AL) 1928-32......he died in 1937.

I really like how Arlie Latham has his foot in the air. He is still clowning around at 91. I guess you are only as old as you feel!

Great stuff, Ted.

Here are a couple of unusual items I own that document the career of Casey Stengel.

This one is a letter from the Brooklyn Dodgers, letting Casey know he's got to take a pay cut:

And here are some postcards Casey received from fans before the 1934 Dodgers' fabled series against the Giants. The fans were rooting hard for Brooklyn to win and refute Bill Terry's question from earlier in the season as to whether or not Brooklyn was still in the league. Brooklyn won both games, enabling the Cardinals to win the pennant. Casey saved dozens of these letters - who says that "bulletin board" talk doesn't have an impact on pro athletes?

This souvenir photo was taken during spring training 1909, and was obtained from Neal Ball's estate. (First Major League unassisted triple play.) Annotaed in Ball's hand.
Sitting on Umbrella Rock are Highlanders Doc Newton, Wid Conroy, Hal Chase, Clark Griffith, Neal Ball, and Willie Keeler.
