Putting this thread back on the front page!

1906 Indianapolis Indians player...sold as a souvenir at the ball park which means it's possible that a card like this one exists for Eddie Cicotte who was with the Indians for a short time in 06.

Default 1916 Reds PC with Christy Matheson

Just got this in.. Last team Christy played with was the Reds in 1916. Can't imagine too many items floating around with Matheson in a Reds uniform as the Giants was his team for most of his career.

Picked up some Oklahoma Indians baseball team RPPC's recently. Don't know a lot about this team but looking to research them.

Great card, Dan. Hope that others surface from that "series".

Here's the 1911 Seattle Giants, Northwestern League, taken at Yesler Way Park in Seattle. Chock-full of Obak guys.

Mathewson isn't in that picture; it was taken early in the season when Buck Herzog was still the manager before he was traded to the Giants for Mathewson. Herzog is in the second row from the bottom, second from the left. The player (actually a coach) on the far left of the third row is 45-year-old Heinie Peitz. Here is the same image (with the background erased) as it appeared in the 1917 Spalding Guide:

Wishful thinking I suppose. Did the seller mention Matty in the sale?

Yes, correct Matheson is not in the photo and the seller Worthridge did say he was in there. I probally should have looked more closely and I have already reached out to the AH. Still, a 1916 Reds team postcard unless there is another problem with the date...

This card below I know is Matty !!!

For those of you with large postcard collections how do you store them? Albums? Top loaders? My father has a LOT of vintage baseball postcards still in paper pages held in with corners. I'd like to help him get everything into something that's archival safe but not sure what the best option is.

Won this Tom Jones 1910 RPPC last night. Notation on the back says it was taken at Hilltop Park:

I put mine in top loaders and then organized into "shoe" boxes.

That's awesome!!! I have about 10 other PCs from the 1912 Olympics set, but hadn't seen this one before. Not that I've been looking, but I do check these out when they come up for sale online and I happen to catch it.

Very cool! Thanks for the close-up!

Let's keep the Thorpe theme going with this RPPC. With him is another athlete from Carlisle HS. Won it from Huggins and Scott featuring the Lipset collection.

I was the underbidder on those Carlisle postcards. You got them cheap IMO. But I let you get them cheap.

I am a Thorpe fan as well, and I have seen that image of Thorpe before. It's taken from the start of the 1,500 meters during the pentathlon. The link shows the same image and talks about the details of the 1,500 meter race from which the image was taken.

I thought I had seen that image on a postcard previously. SGC shows one of card "99" from the 1912 Olympics as being graded. Is that yours? Anyway, the link provides some interesting information about the image.

No problem. Like I said, I thought I had seen a graded postcard of that image before, but I can't find the postcard anymore online. That's what made me take a look at SGC's population.

Contains a caricature of Honus Wagner (far left) and unfolds the story of the 1909 pennant race. It's one I'd never seen or heard of. New discovery?

1911 Nebraska Indians team. Looks like perhaps when the Beltzer brothers purchased the team. Rag tag group with mismatched uniforms. They would whip them into shape in the years following.

That Collins is in beautiful condition! To see the back that white and clean, very cool postcard.

What kept it from going higher than a 6? I'm struggling to see many flaws on my tiny iPhone screen.

Anyone ever seen this postcard? Found it among our collection but don't know much about it. Is it half of a folding postcard perhaps?

It's not a double fold postcard, this view comes as a standard size postcard and one slightly elongated. You've found the longer version which is the rarer version.

It's a view of the bleachers at Shibe Park in Philly. The standard size has several title variations including the New York title.
