Default 1956 Topps Clemente

I’m bidding on a 1956 Clemente at a particular online auction house.

The card is slabbed and is a PSA 7. It’s an older PSA label. In the description it’s listed and the photos show it as a gray back. When I looked it up in the PSA database it’s listed as a white back. They have sold another ‘56 Clemente that was like that. Should I be concerned?

Thoughts?
Comments?

Thanks

If the auction pics and slab look good, I wouldn’t worry about it. They’ve been known to screw that kind of thing up in the PSA records.

PSA did not always recognize the difference; so the ones that got graded, say more than 10 years ago, only have the set name and not the variation on the flip.
If you buy it and then send to PSA and pay the reslabbing fee ($8+shipping), they will update the flip to Gray Back for you.

Agree. And emphasize that you would definitely have to send it in for the change, as this scenario is not something they would consent to via email/scans. (if instead the slab identified it already as 'gray back' but the database listed it as white, then an email/pic would often suffice for the database correction, but since your scenario means actually characterizing the card, they'll want it in hand).

And inferring your other concern, I suspect a mid-grade + non-rookie + relatively high-pop item like this doesn't lend itself to forgery or funny-business since the margin is low compared to the presumable amount of effort involved...
