Bunch of awesome stuff this month.

That show grouping of raw has some of my favorite looking cards-- namely 73 Aaron and Clemente. Great action shots.

The 52 Mays is insane.

Then the Bazooka Mick and that rare variation for Chris?!

June is strong!

Default 1964 Raw Niekro RC

Getting a 1964 Topps set started this month. This is my first raw card addition. What grade would you give this card ? Looks like a solid 7 / NMT to me.

Found the writing on the back of the card to be very interesting. Niekro was being groomed as relief pitcher in 1963-64. There were not too many of them around in the early 60's. Little did they know he would go on to win 300 + games despite very little run support on some poor Braves teams. It says he worked for Uncle Sam in 1963. Any one know what he did ?

Default 1978 SO Leaders / Ryan - Niekro

This card is not valuable but I love it ! Strikeout Leaders Card of Nolan Ryan and Phil Niekro. Talk about opposite tactics in accumulating strikeouts. Arguably the greatest knuckle baller of all time and arguably the greatest fast baller of all time on the same card, leading the NL and AL in SO in the same season.

Thanks Bill and Matt! Nice cards everyone. I love the Bazookas and really cool Who Am I.

Below are my latest acquisitions. I am attaching a photo of the collection and then some pictures of the stars. The Mantle is the only one that really fits into my collection, so I'll be piecing the others out in the near future. Still trying to decide whether to get them graded (some have pin holes), leave them as is, try to get them in an auction, consign them or sell them on eBay/Net54 (I don't want to hijack the thread but any thoughts would be appreciated via PM).

Just added this one to my collection. Not on my want list but it when I saw the centering I had to have it. Anyone else ever fall into the trap of impulse buying?

Default impulse buying

My only impulse buying are variants for my sets that are not in SCD, Becketts or the Regisrty, but that appeal to me for some reason. Everything else is on a list...or should be

Great Spahn and great price. I was going after that one too, but decided that an upgrade simply wasn't necessary. But that 20 is about as good as it gets w/ that tough issue.

Picked up this trio at a show today. The 1961 Mantle was way cheap, the 1965 Banks isn't too great, but it's a tough card to find, and the 1964 'Tops In NL' is absolutely killer!!

Picked up a small lot of 1974 OPC Cardinals for a reasonable price recently. Far and away the most scarce of the 70s opc issues due to a production strike at the factory that year. I only need 13 more to complete my team seat!

To answer your question, yes. Far too often. Luckily I've gotten that under control for now, and my savings are reflecting that. Soon I'll be able to play again

By the way, is it just me, or does it look like Mick had one of his legendary nights before this shot was taken?

Just another normal day (all-nighter most likely). Not one of his better mug shots.

Reggie Cleveland's 74 Topps/OPC card is interesting, in that it must have been a pretty low attendance day at the ballpark when they took that picture.

Not sure if the scan does this justice...if only the top to bottom centering were a little more true...but wow, was I thrilled when I got this in the mail on Saturday!

It had actually been a few months since I had picked up anything other than a few commons for the '41 Play Ball set I have worked on here and there. I have decided to just focus on star cards for a while. I sold some stuff off and got redirected and bought those two. Thanks for the feedback.

Was a great mail day for me today. Got the 3 1966 Topps cards with print offsets and several Wanderlei Silva MMA cards from COMC today. Also got a 1966 Bob Heffner Purple tree error version. A cool miscut 1973 Willie Mays., a1952 Bowman Bill Werle missing W error version. A 1957 Topps Ted Williams in the new PSA holder.

It is the first new PSA holder I have seen. It is within millimeters of being the exact same size/style as the GAI holders. It should help stop tampering but as a PSA hater now it will be much harder to rescue poor Ted from imprisonment.

Default 1962? Kansas City A's 4x5 Team Issued Cards?

I have been collecting Kansas City A's for years, but I came across a group of cards I have never seen, nor can I find any information about them. They measure 4" x 5" and have a glossy finish. They are blank backed. From the players I have, I would surmise they are from 1962 and probably team issued, similar to a picture pack. Anyone have any info about these? I am guessing they must be pretty scarce.

Very neat A's item I have never seen those before, great pick up! This is the first time in quite a while I have added anything to my collection that fits here. This one came in the mail today. It was obtained from another forum member. It's an uncut sheet of 1972 Roberto Clemente Fan Club membership cards issued by the Daily Juice Co. Thanks Rob D.

Hey Joe, I worked in sports information for many years, this looks like a set of player ID photos sent to each media outlet at the start of each season. They would then be used with out of town game stories and player bio type articles? Just a guess.
