Default Need examples of high value cards

Tomorrow, I'm teaching my children about Baseball cards and their values. Please list a few examples of high grade cards and what they sold for. For example, PSA9 Mickey Mantle rookie card, T206's, etc. Looking for cards that sold for 6 figures. Please list grade and price sold for. TIA

Jim,

I know you said you knew who had won it but I was told just a month ago that the card had yet to have been paid for.

We have an all-time top 25

http://www.vintagecardprices.com/amr.php?type=top25&time_range=all

And it can be done by sport or time frame..

That Wagner currently resides in 12th place.

Why isn't the Wagner that sold last summer at the live auction at the Nat'l for $1.62 million on that top 25 list?

Maybe since that auction was a Live Auction the results aren't available to be gathered electronically?

... but then why would the $2.8M Gretzky PSA 8 show up in the data since that was a private sale, albeit one where the selling price was publicized.

Also the buyer's premium for the SGC 40 T206 Wagner last year was 13%, not 18%, so the total sales price (based on the hammer price of $700K) should be $791K, not $826K. A 13% buyer's premium was applied to winning bids delivered live or by phone during the Philip Weiss floor auction, and the higher 18% rate applied to items won via eBay live bidding only.

Also I think Memory Lane sold a PSA 10 1951 Bowman Mantle card recently, that they publicized in some of their ads, and I don't remember the exact price, but I bet it cracks the Top 10 if it is included.

hey bobby,

does the top 25 include buyer premium?

if yes, then shouldn't the sgc 60 d304 cobb have made it?

even if it's not included(bp), i think that card is still in top 25.

I'm almost afraid to ask: which auction house 'sold' the E93 Wagner which was 'not paid for?'

Jeff- it was Memory Lane, and the auction took place last September.

The D304 Cobb went for $109,103 which falls short of the top 25 by a little.

Yes all our prices reflect the hammer added into the final price.

We included the PSA 8 Wagner and made a notation in the extra field.

We did not get the feed for Mastro's last live auction.

In regards to the Weiss Wagner we had no way to distinguish which hammer to add to the final tally and will look into it and adjust that price.

Thanks Bobby -- don't mean to nit-pick you to death out here, but heck we may as well get the figures as complete and correct as we can.

That Bowman Mantle reportedly traded for 600k in Gem Mint 10.
