Default Mastro's N173 Cabinets

Posted By: Paul

Mastro has unusual bidding rules for its N173 cabinets. You can bid on the whole lot of twenty or on individual cards. If the individual bids add up to less than the high bid on the lot of 20, all individual bidders lose, and all twenty go to the guy with the high bid on the lot.

At this point, the group bid is ahead of the total individual bids by about $11K. Any thoughts on whether there is a chance that the individual bidders will overtake the group bid? Or is it silly to even try to guess?

If the set price continues to far surpass the single cabinets, the individual bidders are likely to give up. There is a flaw in this system and it will only work competitively when both sets of bids are close.

Would everyone please start bidding on the individual cabinets? Thanks.

There's still lots of bargains, especially for people looking for a type card of a non-HOFer.

Come on! You all know you have no chance to outbid George on those N173s!

All right. I'll ask a dumb question. Who is George?

And does he want to keep all 20?

The system is flawed. Since the bidders can see both totals, it would make sense to put in a large bid on the whole set to make people feel they'ed be wasting their time bidding on the individual lots.

The same type of bidding is being done on then Old Judge N172's. But, the individual bids are winning right now.
