Default N228-5 Kinney Bros Novelties ..T-Unc Baseball 1936

Posted By: leon

The first of these is a very scarce n228-5 Kinney Bros Novelties. The chic is wearing as baseball cap is how this ties in... I had never seen one like it, as all of the others I have seen were round, until I got it on ebay recently. I checked the ACC and it's a type 5. Anyone else seen one before? (or care ).... The other is an international type I didn't have yet. I don't think it's too scarce but likewise, has anyone seen some of these before? regards (ps..the N228-5 was actually kind of an exciting pick up...for under $10 total..who says collecting has to be expensive?)....regards

A mostly lurker board member sent a scan of one of the baseball T-Uncs.....and there is one on ebay right now for about $125.....any takers on the N228-5 as far as seeing one?.....Now on that one I would be a little surprised if someone on the board pops up with it. Where's Dan Mckee when you need him? Glen V- how about you? best regards

Leon, Nice picks up and at price that I can afford. I must pay more attention to detail from now on.

In Rememberance of James W. Brennan Sr. 1924-1982. Dad, thanks for everything you did for me.

Leon,

You know I just lurk here making the occasional post that's not really baseball related since I moved onto the non-sports world after baseball became too expensive for me. I was about to comment how this is really a common card until it dawned on me that it's a typical N228 round card inside a standard card size (which was obvious to anyone who didn't know the set).

But I've never seen a single example of these, baseball or non-baseball (the other 49) related. I hate non-standard (novelty) cards but I would have paid attention to these if I ever saw one.

Yeah....I would consider that scarce.

Isn't the "T" designation only used for American tobacco cards? That card is probably listed in the World Tobacco Index.

Frequently? I'm not so sure about that. But I'll have to watch now.

Here's the regular round baseball one that just ended.

I see the United Tobacco issue from time to time. I have at least one. Eric has one on his website too. Agree the T cards are typically US issues. Not sure what catagory this falls under.

Hi Leon,
I have seen both on EBAY before, but the Kinney's do not show up very often. I was going to bid on the South African card, but skipped it because I assumed you needed it for your collection. Nice pickups!! Be well Brian

PS The search for Type cards is like mine with rare backs, it never ends.
