Default Card HOF voting

Posted By: jay behrens

I am trying to keep it to 5 per catagory and eliminated nominations for 'any card from set X', which killed one of my nominations, lol. Please email your votes to me at
sabrjay @ chater.net (you need to elimnate the space ont he either side of the '@'. Don't want spam-bots getting my email address). You can only vote for ONE card per catagory. I'd like to close the voting by Dec 31st, but if anyone thinks this is too short a time, I am more than willing to extend the time. Just like the idea of naming new members at the start of the new year.

Here the nominees:

19th Century cards-
N172 Ewing and mascot
n172 Anson uniform
n162 Anson
n162 Kelly
Four Base Hits Kelly

T-cards-
t206 Leifield pitching
t210 Joe Jackson
t202 Cobb/Jennings
t207 Bushelman
t3 Walter Johnson

E-cards-
E92 Rebel Oakes
e96 Brown
e90-1 Mitchell Cinn.
e94 Cicotte (violet background)
Cracker Jacks Joe Jackson

Misc sets-
d322 Tip Top Wagner
m101-5 Ruth
Baltimore News Ruth
1933 Gehreinger #222
1941 Play Ball DiMaggio

It will be a lot easier for people to vote if they can "copy" the ballot (cntrl-c) then click on your email link and paste (cntrl-v).

There might be Floriday residents voting, so make this easy!

scott, the only address I use here is my spam address. I check it occasionally, but I don't want to have to wade thru 200 pieces of spam to find the votes. Spam-bots can pull your addy off that link, and I have no desire to have my private email address getting 200+ pieces of spam every day. I already get around 50 legit emails a day. I don't need more spam to make reading email more annoying.

N172 Anson in Uniform, E96 Brown, Baltimore News Ruth. (I'm not voting for a T card. I think the E-90-1 Jackson is his true rookie and should go in before the T210, and I'm not a big fan of the rest of the nominees).

I went thru the whole nomination thread and counted all how many times each card was nominated. To address Julie's concerns, the Radbourne portrait got edged becuase there were already 2 n172 with multiple nominations and tried to spread nomination among different sets.

In the Misc catagory, only 5 individual cards were nominated. The rest of the nominations were for sets or any card from a given set.

The T3 Johnson made it because it and the t206 Leifield were the only t-cards to get more than one nod. The rest were choices sort of chosen at random by myself.

So that is basically how I decided what cards to list for voting.

Jay

If there ain't a T205 nominated, then you just don't have adequate T card representation, IMO.

we held votes for nominations,if theres no T205's it not Jays fault, there was plenty of time to suggest any cards you or anyone else wanted, and you cant have every a card from every set on the ballot,or there would be more than 5 cards in each category..

this thread also isnt for criticizing or nominations its for voting only

I'd prefer to have the votes sent to me so as not to have late voters not bother casting because they are seeing cards they would not vote for getting lots of votes on the thread and feeling that their vote won't make a difference.

To prevent such a condition, I sent my votes to Jay and changed at least some of my votes (Leon's starting to get nervous). There was a variety of HOF-worthy choices, so it wasn't diffult to shift. No one should be discouraged or encouraged by my previously posted vote.

Sorry, I didn't realize that there had been a nomination period. It was just a light hearted comment, not a complaint. And thanks, John, for the input criticizing my post by noting that this thread was not meant for criticism...

No problem Jerry,anytime.....but im pretty sure that part wasnt directed only at you. youll see other people posted irrelavant stuff and i didnt want the thread to turn into another nomination which was already done......instead of people actually choosing from the list,it was going towards just voting for whichever card people wanted which defeated the purpose of making the list in the first place.....just trying to stop it before it got bad,so dont take it personal and happy holidays
