Default Items from Harry Lord Estate August 15 2018

Saco River Auction is pleased to announce that on August 15 2018@5PM we will be selling numerous items from the grandson of Harry Lord including many one of a kind items that were owned by Harry Lord during his life and playing career.

As many of you know, Harry was from Kezar Falls Maine and played for the Boston Americans/Red Sox 1907-1910 and was The Captain and 3rd baseman during his time. He then played for the Chicago White Sox from 1910-14 and also was the Captain there.

Harry died in Westbrook Maine in 1948 and left behind his cherished items to his family.

We have acquired these items directly from Harry Lord's grand son's estate.

Below are some interesting items from the estate.

The sale is loaded with items including a 1910 6 Foot panoramic photo of the Patriots day game Red Sox vs. Nationals at Huntington Avenue Grounds, a rare circa 1910-15 One of a kind silver gelatin photo featuring an all-star team before all-star teams existed. The team was assembled for charity and featured Ty Cobb, Nap Lajoie, Tris Speaker, Harry Lord, Walter Johnson and many others, early unusual postcards, Harry Lord's scrapbook, Complete PSA 7 and Above High Grade 1950 Bowman Set, early tobacco cards, rookies, sets, and much more.

Here are the links to the sale, bidding is open now!

That photo of a 1910 all-star team was assembled by Jimmy McAleer at Connie Mack's request to play the A's before the world series that year, since the AL ended their season a week earlier than the NL and Mack was worried that the delay would hurt his team in the series. They played five games, the all-star team winning the first four, and Mack credited the exhibition series with keeping his team sharp enough to easily take the Cubs in the world series.

Default Fantastic Info, and Thank You

Hank,

Thank you for posting the true info on the photo and the story behind the assembly of this team. It's a perfect example as to why this forum is so helpful for individuals, collectors and companies to do their business and for all to learn from people who love the history of the hobby and the sport.

Thanks again

Troy

Ok. I will be there. I'll have a cold one before you get there. We can catch up on the National. (It was a good one).
