Default Unidentified John McGraw Card ID Help?

Posted By: James Feagin

I won this card on ebay last night from our good friend prewar sports. Rhys has a wealth of knowledge and didn't know about this card, and I've never seen an example myself. Perhaps the cumulative amount of expertise on this board can come up with a positive ID or idea?

Known as a "Cinderella card".

It is unidentified as a card, it may or may not be a baseball card. It may be just a picture cut from a box or advertisment. Too bad it doesnt have more of a border line or line to show it should be cut. To see if it is a true baseball card, you need to see if another ever surfaces, or the complete piece (uncut) ever is found.

The comma after "McGraw" led me to think more info was below the name (ie team, etc.).

Ive never seen another.

It's the same pose as E94 which is neat.

Some contend that the w555 set draws their images from the same source(s) that yielded e93, e94, e97 or e98 sets. The coloration of this card resembles that of the w555. However, its potential relationship is unclear.

It is my opinion that each card stands on its own merits and does not require other members of the set to be identified, in order to establish its legitimacy.

Same pose as the Darby Chocolate card as well. Is it paperstock glued to cardboard?
