Default E95 Break Up Value

Posted By: T206Collector

I hope the parties on this board do not mind the publicity, but I thought it was an interesting case study. Based on the Net54 B/S/T post (below), this E95 set sold for either $4,000 or $3,000 plus a Ruth card (or some similar negotiated value). The cards as a set can be viewed at the SGC Set Registry link below. The individual ebay auctions are being listed at the link below. The question is, will the break up value earn more than $4,000? Stay tuned.....

I vote for break-up value, though the seller's low feedback (and lack of recent card sales) and poor scans are both major obstacles.

I'm more of scanner than a digital photograph guy for looking at cards.

I wonder what the SGC 20 Cobb will go for? $600?

he has bought and sold a bunch of these in collector grade. He will know what the market bears on these cards.

How do you know what the price of the set was? From the thread you posted, it is unclear. What Ruth was part of the trade?

The pictures aren't bad..THEY ARE A JOKE...and the feedback is low.
It will be interesting to see.... but won't be indicitive of the actual value of the cards.....

...was amended after the sale. But I followed it while it was up and remembered checking out the set on the SGC Registry. When I saw the same cards on ebay, I made the connection...

$20.50 1909 E95 Philly Caramel Bill Carrigan SGC Card 10

Final Total: 3,383.15

So, if the seller actually purchased the set for $4,000.00, the seller lost over $600 in about two week's time by breaking it up. Of course, if the seller had better feedback, used better photos (or better yet, scans) and had not listed the auction for Monday evening, prices would likely have been higher.

Thus endeth the lesson.

i guess hindsight is 20/20....but i'm guessing the set could have been sold in "chunks" rather than all at once for better results.

And that doesn't even count ebay listing fees, final value fees, paypal fees, the time it takes to post, take pictures, etc.

Wow.

I'm happy with what I got for the set, whether or not the buyer made money on the set or not.
