Brett- My new scanner will just not let me get a good scan of the ball. Cards come out fine as does anything flat but the ball won't work. The digital camera picture looks fuzzy too. I believe Julie has a scan of it, maybe if she is reading this she will oblige by posting it.

Bob,

Have you tried taking the digital picture in the macro setting? It will allow you to get a focused picture upto probably about 12 inches away.

Thanks, Jim. I bought the Feller raw on Ebay a couple of years ago. It's a PSA 7 now, but it's as nice as any 8 I've seen, and is the cornerstone of my 38 set.

Oddly, sadly, and interestingly - nothing. Wow. There's a realization. I seriously went through every card I own (didn't take long), and decided that there isn't one that I would absolutely positively say I would never part with.

I think it's because much of what I have is fairly common - things I could reasonably anticipate finding again down the road. By that standard, the two closest "never leaves" would be my N172 Ganzel (because it took me so dang long to find a Detroit N172) and my SGC 50 E97 McIntyre (because I'm not at all sure I could find such a nice version of a difficult set, and a Detroit player to boot - definitely the pride of the collection).

I think there are many many ways to ask the question "What's your favorite card (that you own)?". I have several ways I ask myself (will maybe start a thread on one someday), and each brings a different answer. This one I thought was a very interesting spin on the theme.

Good thread!

Joann

If you want to be technical, everything will someday leave our possession. Material goods are all on temporary loan to us. That is unless we destroy them ourselves or are buried with them

I doubt that I will part with any card in my collection; I only collect cards of my great-grandfather, Frank "Bullet" Miller. However, my most cherished card is an Obak T4 of him.

Only thing in my collection that i am 100% sure will never go anywhere is my son Jamie's 300+ card collection of Ken Griffey Jr. Yep, shiny crap. Jamie passed away two yars ago aged 18 and he loved that collection. We did a lot of card shows together, so the cards mean so much more than just the cards. It'll go to family when we're gone.

I still like my things and am back to buying more things, but things is all they are any more. Hopefully i didn't put a downer on the thread.

Martin: sorry to hear about your loss. Hang on to those Griffey cards, and those fond memories.
