Default Information on Mains & Dolley bat

Hi,

I found this old Mains & Dolley baseball bat in my parents basement.

It is 32 1/4” long and has many distinctive rings.

Any information anyone can share would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Al

Over the years, I have noticed a couple of bats with similar rings. Was this ever a popular decoration? Was it thought to help with seeing the ball hit the bat?

Neat bat. I have a Mains and Dolley game used sidewritten bat of T206 player Roy Brashear.

I have looked all over the place and never seen a Mains & Dolley bat with all these rings. Given the shape, the rings, and that it says Mains & Dolley I think it’s from late 1890s early 1900s? Anyone else agree?
