and the Plank and Chance are throwins!
I thought Wagners had to be legitimately graded to be able to be sold on ebay?

They do. This auction will never last.

These were my favorites:

1 - "there appears to be scratches or spots where these may have been attached to the outside of a cigarette pack on the backs of the cards near the bottom."

(Or where the word "Reprint" was scratched off.)

2 - The always rare Black Piedmont back!

We think these may be originals but can not guarantee same.

What does that mean? That the cards are unquestionably fake?

If eBay cared about their customers, they would let them leave comments on auctions. This way everyone would be able to see that the auction was a fraud.

what's really funny is people asking what color the printing is/better scans....amazing!!! you really need to ask those questions when the cards are such blatant reprints.

Very ironic that these obvious fakes are left on ebay and yet auctions of real cards from sellers who are top-notch which say they will accept checks or money orders besides Paypal are shot out with the ebay death star as soon as they are listed.

Well, I'm convinced! They'll even send them "between two pieces of cardboard in a bubble envelope," or in a real box! What more could anyone want?

The seller is also offering a set of broadsides of "Our American Cousin," the play at which Lincoln was assassinated. And again: "We are assuming these to be reprints as we acquired them in one lot, however... "

No doubt a copy of the Magna Carta, assumed to be a reproduction, but "you never know ..." will follow.

If eBay cared about their customers, they would let them leave comments on auctions.

I can only imagine the criticism eBay would (deservedly) receive for following this suggestion.

I went to the Antiques Roadshow once and someone in the crowd brought a framed "Mona Lisa" with them. You never know . . .

Wagners do not have to be graded to be sold on ebay if they are advertised as reprints.

Dan,

At the time I posted that, it wasn't listed as a reprint. The seller changed that after numerous emails, (and lots of bids.)

They still say in the listing: "We believe that these may be originals but can not guarantee same as we are not experts on these cards. NONE of these cards are stamped "reprint" on the backs!"

How much of an expert do you need to be to see that those are not originals? If you can't, then you shouldn't be selling them.

I'm amazed someone is willing to pay $182+ for these reprints. Are T-206 reprints worth that much these days ?

There is, at least, a grain of truth to the Joe Jackson brick story. It was featured on one of those real estate flipping shows on cable. It featured a company in Greenville known as Trademark Properties. I think it was called The Real Estate Pros.

At least the house was moved and remodeled.

Where this brick came from... I have no idea.

The seller added the 'reprint' yesterday when he revised
the description.

Two idiots in this auction. I expect a new poster here next week asking if they're real.

It would have been more appropriate to have the auction end seven hours and 29 minutes later than it did.

When I see this happening I always hope it's some kind of eBay vigilante, winning things without paying for them in an effort to protect the uneducated and misinformed. Unfortunately, most of the time somebody is probably getting screwed.
