Default Baseball cards brought to life! Awesome (and creepy)!

So I read online about an app that can animate old photos...so of course my mind immediately went to "I wonder if I can animate baseball cards?"

Turns out, yes I can. And the results are interesting, funny, and honestly a little creepy.

Please add some of your own to this thread...there are MANY cards I would like to see animated. Unfortunately, it appears that the free version of the software (I used an app called My Heritage) only allows a few images. So I only got these three done. I was in the process of trying a t206 Wagner when I got the message I had to pay for more.

So, I present to you, a living version of some of my favorite cards: 1952 Bowman Mantle, 1935 Goudey Ruth (181), and 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr.

Enjoy!

The craziest part is that the software just automatically does it using AI. All I did is upload a picture of each card, and it just automatically "humanizes" it. It's pretty fascinating technology.

John

I think the photos coming to life is awesome!
Reminds of the moving pics in Harry Potter.

You're probably right Garth. It's the next big thing to sell digital files as collectibles.

Any Horner image would be neat. Also a 52T Jackie or 53T Paige.

What are the cards that would offer the best results?

1976 Topps traded Oscar Gamble, 1976 Johnny Bench, 1948 Leaf Wagner...

There are SO MANY cards I would like to see, I can't even list them.

1952 Topps Mantle (I bet that one might be weird because of the angle)
1953 Topps Mantle
1953 Topps Jackie
t206 Cobb
t206 Wagner
N162 Capp Anson
W517 Gehrig

I could go on, and on. Too bad I'm cheap...otherwise I would just purchase the app and keep making them

I am more of an analog than digital guy, but I have to say that is awesome. Would love to see T206 Johnson (Portrait), T206 Lajoie (Bat) and 1934 Goudey Gehrig Portrait ....

Okay who will be the first to put together the "T206 Comes To Life" website with all 524 (or more if you include the proofs) ....

(Wow -- the '52 Topps Jackie is really cool).

What was said to the player just before the animation.

Babe Ruth - Ok Babe, bases loaded. What I need you to do is bunt...
Mantle - Did you know you sort of look like Tom Brady?
Griffey- Key Jr! We signed you dad! wont that be fun?

I just did my N173 Ewing & Mascot and it's awesome. Unfortunately, it will only animate one face at a time, so you have to choose between Ewing and the mascot.

Okay, call us deranged, but does the AI programme "understand" only human faces, or would it work
on an animal face? Has anyone tried it on a pic of a dog or cat? We'd like to see our long-since-passed
four-footed buds animated. Maybe the AI would try to morph the image into something human,
which could put the creepy factor off the charts...

I tried it with pictures of both my dog and of my daughter’s cat.
The app said no.
It actually said it couldn’t find any faces or something like that.

The app is actually a lineage/family tree focused app, but this feature is sorta short term cool. I’m not keeping the app after the free trial but it’s fun for now!
