Default light scratch/indent - grade?

Just a question, probably hashed over a lot, but:

An otherwise NM 7 grade downgraded to a 4 from a very light scratch or indent, maybe centimeter in length. No paper loss at all, the full color still exists. Just a light scratch or indent.

Is this acceptable downgrade? All the way down to a 4 due to this flaw? Is SGC or is PSA tougher on a minor token flaw like this?

Thanks, Steve

ps. would post the card, but cannot see flaw unless card is tilted just right to get that just right light refraction, then you see it.

Was this card already slabbed? I posted a card a bit back with a surface crease barley visable. Graded a SGC 4. Thought it was a 5 for sure and looks to be a 6-7. Thats how grading works. I don't think the company grading matters in this situation. May have gotten a 1/2 point more with PSA.

I have gotten several back with small indents and all came back graded 4. I guess thats the standard grade for them. I really don't think thats right, but thats the way it is. Frank
