Default Consider an EPDG set....how tough is it ?

Posted By: Scot Reader

Ray,

I think the consensus is that all T206 subjects are theoretically possible with EPDG except:

1. Most 150-only subjects

(Ewing may be an exception; he has not been confirmed with a 350 back but does exist with EPDG.)

2. All southern leaguers

3. Demmitt (St. Louis), Doyle (N.Y. Nat'l), O'Hara (St. Louis), Plank

So roughly 460 subjects are theoretically possible with EPDG. Of course, dozens if not hundreds of these 460 are unlikely to exist with EPDG in fact.

I agree as well. I will continue to look and report back when I find vagabond examples and hopefully add a few along the way.
I picked up an EPDG Fred Abbott last night.
Thanks again for the continued motivation.

Ted,

Not sure if the "Shaw" on your list is Al (St. Louis) or Hunky (Providence). There are two Al Shaws (St. Louis) on eBay right now.

I wonder if the total is 301? My math:

240 a combination of 150/350 and 350 series (i.e. 48 subjects x 5 press sheets)
6 Super Prints
55 460 only

I've probably missed something and have not matched up the cards in this thread with the different series but it seems possible to me.

I'm going to try to match up the supershet spreadsheet based on the above while away on a business trip next week as I will have plenty of down time.

So, is my theory crap or does it have some basis?

Dave

I'm not sure I understand your math.

Also, there are 48 subjects in the 460-only Series....you have 55 ?

I prefer to use the "deduction method" to approach the # of possible EPDG cards......

524 - 6 (W P M D D O) - 48 (So Lgers) - 9 (150-only) = 461

Now, as we have found out with SOVEREIGN and POLAR BEAR studies....there are a good number
of these 461 possible cards that do not exist with an EPDG back. And, the only way that we can
arrive at the actual number is by large-sample surveys (i.e., Scot Reader's, Bill Brown's, and this
one)....that we are conducting here on this Forum.

Aha! I should have typed 55 in the 350/460 series. But I think I still have a problem on the 350 series figures as there are 208 fronts there. Got to contemplate while on the road. I have Bill Brown's s/s and am taking it with me to study anew. My larger point was that the no prints will likely be some multiple of 48 fronts. Well, back to the drawing board......

In the process of putting together a T206 all-Sovereign set, I have observed a recurring pattern
regarding cards in the 150/350 Series. In this Series not all Subjects exist with both 150 and 350
backs. And, the cards that are devoid of Sovereign 350 backs invariably show up with EPDG backs.
Therefore, this pattern is predictative of a high probability of a card with an EPDG back.

Here is a list of 12 cards in the 150/350 Series that are not found with SOV 350 backs. And, have
yet to be confirmed with EPDG backs....

Bransfield
M. Brown (port)
Cobb (green)
Conroy (fldg)
Criss
H. Davis
Hahn
Lake (NY)
McIntyre (Brooklyn)
McQuillen (arms high)
Pastorius
Williams

Let's see if any of these 12 will follow this pattern, and eventually show up with EPDG backs ?

One more go around with this survey....show or tell your EPDG backs.

Ted are you regularly scanning eBay listings? I've been trying to do that in the event a new one pops up.

The two cards of Overall that have been confirmed are his Portrait and the Yellow sky version.
Is this new one you have with the Blue sky ?
