Stupid question. I haven't been to a show for a while. Do I just bring a lot of cash or do most dealers accept PayPal these days?

um, don't know about paypal, a lot take credit card. I bring a computer so i guess I could take paypal, but unless you have a paypal card I don't think that's the norm.

No card but I figured with cell phones these days that would eliminate taking wads of cash!

When I set up locally I often take Paypal. It works great. When I go to a show I also bring a wad of cash as cash is king.

Wasn't saying it wouldn't work, like I said I could do it, just haven't seen it. My bad if it's common practice.

you can do pay pal from a smart phone pretty easily. Usually Jake (Hi Jake!) from the Addison show has to show my customers how to do that.

I take cash, check and pay pal. Yes a few people still pay with check.

Credit Card only if someone in the room has a machine and we can make it work.

We shall see tonight and tomorrow, but from the responses in this thread so far it seems like such a simple thing as announcing the change in ownership of this show has breathed new life back into it. Says quite a bit about the former owner. Can't wait until tomorrow to see how much better it is than the December show.

I just got back. got there for 3 and had to wait in line. That's a good sign. No bbce but wasn't expecting them but had wishful thinking. Lots of vintage with some modern mixed in. PSA had a nice line going. Only saw a few Starting Lineups . I was able to get a little wax.

Was at the show last night. Crowd was a lot better than the last previous shows. Good selection of vintage. There was a nice line for autographs. Donovan McNabb was there last night. I thought it was very well organized. I'm looking to future shows.

Went to the Show yesterday and the place was filled with dealers, a testimony to Joe Drelich's hard work at encouraging dealers to attend and, in some instances, to return. Kudos to Joe for a job well done!

One of the returnees was the venerable T206 human encyclopedia, Ted Z. I spent a wonderful hour with Ted talking about 206s and related tobacco cards. He was supported by his delightful wife, Charlotte. I picked up some raw, low-grade 206s for my budding Monster set comprised of, hard-to-believe, raw, low-grade cards.

Wish I could return today and tomorrow, but if you were on the fence about attending, by all means go. Net54 folks got in free yesterday, and are half-off today.

Cheers,
Mike

Was there early today. Crowd was getting bigger as I left at around 10:30 or so. Thought it had a good mix of vintage/shiny new/autograph dealers. Not a whole lot of memorabilia though.

Sorry I didn't have time to meet anyone who had a table there. Had to get in and out making the consignment rounds with the various houses.

I got to the show a little after noon. I thought there was a nice crowd on the floor. Enjoyed a quick chat with a few Net54 members (Ted,Glyn). Enjoyed talking with Michael Goldberg of REA. They brought along a nice spread for the upcoming Spring auction. All in all I had a good time. 2.5 hours was plenty for me. Didn't buy a thing, but enjoyed some conversation.

I attended yesterday and had a great time. There was (in my opinion) a good selection of cards available and the dealers I interacted with were polite and professional.

While at the show, I was happy to make these two pickups.

Kudos to the new ownership for putting together a quality event. I will definitely be attending again in September.

Best regards,

Eric

I always kind of feel like the Philly show and the White Plains ( Basically a New York City Show ) chug along together with many of the same customers / dealers. It will be interesting to see if the Philly / Valley Forge show starts to "pull ahead" in terms of popularity & attendance at this point. Would be interesting to get the perspective of a Don Hontz or another dealer that has done both shows.

Default Never Miss

Stopped by the show today before most of the autograph signers started and was extremely pleased to see that the floor seemed like an "old" show. It had a different feeling about it, along with many more shoppers. It seemed busier than most shows have been the last 5 years or so. Tons of vintage, not a bunch of memorabilia, but great vintage nonetheless.

Kudos to Joe on re-energizing a great show!

Hey Danny

It will be like the "good ole days" again with you at this Show. Looking forward to seeing you.

I will be setting up at Booth # 412.

I hope to see some of you. Just "talking BB", or wheeling-n-dealing Sportscards this Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

I'll have for sale (or trade) cards from 1887 thru to the 1970's. With 200+ T206 cards (Stars, SL's & Commons).
Including some tough backs (AB 460, red HINDU, PIEDMONT 460/42, and UZIT).

Since I'm doing the show in the middle of moving, I'm mainly going to have bins from 25¢ to $20. Definitely something different for me. Will have a few other odds and ends including a 1955 Topps Set with Clemente and Koufax both in PSA 5. Sucks that I can't walk around much and say hi to N54 Dealers. Please everyone stop by and say "hi" booth 710.

Be sure to stop by booth 911 to see our display of items from the upcoming Fall Auction, several of which we will be unveiling for the first time! We'll have some amazing items and will be able to sign you up for a free catalog and accept consignments for the late additions section of the October auction (starting October 6) or for the Spring Auction.
