Default Value question

Hey guys I'm not a avid collector but have inherited some pennants from my father who passed 5 years ago. I respect baseball and all its history just don't have any place for it at home. One pennant in particular from The 1960s a sanfrancisco Giants pennant with candlestick field in background still with the hanging tag attached no pin holes guess dad wasn't a fan lol but I cant seem to find pictures of it anywhere could be worth something or nothing help would be appreciated

I'm not a pennant guy, but unless someone else chimes in to this being a rare piece I'd pin it at about $40-$50 which is where most period pennants fall.

I was thinking the same thing but I too am not a pennant guy.. It's nice and barring anything extrarordinary, which we don't know, I am in the 40-50 range also.

Rare variation and looks To be MINT. Do not sell it for that amount (yet...)

There's a fellow on the board (Rob / "oo-ri-bay") who is a Pennant guy AND a Giants guy. He will know if it's rare, the vintage and the approx. value).

I'm a long-time Pennant collector, and have not seen this one. But I'm guessing that Rob has. Hopefully he can chime in for you shortly, as he usually maintains an excellent presence here. Best of luck!

It is a fairly rare pennant but, because it shows a fully enclosed Candlestick, it has to be post-1970. The one thing that sets this pennant apart is the fact that NOTHING about it (font, batter, pic of stadium) is seen on other Giants pennants, when most pennants either share similarities or show some sort of "evolution." The hanging tag probably helps its value. Would you mind posting a picture just of that tag? As for value.....probably in the $100 range, but half that or twice that wouldn't surprise me (on ebay).

Very interesting.....the entire piece (pennant, tassels, hang tag) appears to be one piece of "felt like" material (not felt). I just checked mine....this is a 3/4 size pennant. What else did your dad have?

I think definitely 70s. I collected dozens of these types of one piece, with sales tag, stiff "felt" like pennants in the 70s. I always just ripped off the tag and stapled it to my bedroom wall.

I doubt it. I'd say maybe $100, but it might do a third that or twice that on ebay. You just never know. It's fairly rare but not old enough to be worth a ton.

The tag and pennant all being one single piece of material is indeed a positive. The tag was probably cut off of 95% of these (or more).

That said... Rarity doesn't always equate to value. To Rob's point, it's difficult to envision this one selling for triple digits, given the stiff felt and later vintage. 1970s "felt" pennants just don't command much of a following. So I'd estimate more like $75 (on a good day). Neat item though
