Default Are there any authentic signed Southern League T206's that are known to exist?

I found this in an August 16 1909 Macon Georgia newspaper.

Default That’s amazing!

I’ve never seen a T206 signed by a Southern Leaguer. If one were to be found, it would most likely be Shag or Perdue, though Bay, Orth, “Hub” Hart, or Jordan may very well be out there.

I have a Coles auto, but the only Helm or Kiernan autos I’ve seen are on their WWI Draft registration cards.

Little did the players know how valuable the items were creating would become.

That newspaper article is a very cool find. Thanks for posting.

This reminds of the story of Bugs Raymond trading signed baseballs to pay off his bar tabs.

Considering this story is contemporaneous to the era and not some foggily recollected remembrance from a half century after it supposedly happened, the chances are greater that there could be more truth to this one.

Also, it's rather interesting to read "...they think they are in the Hall of Fame". This article predates the HOF by more than a quarter century.

The term was commonly used in the 19 and early 20th centuries, meant with a heavier emphasis on fame and not meaning a museum or curated list. It’s only later it primarily came to mean a physical place and/or curated list of inductees.

I think they are referring to the "Hall of Fame" that Harry Pulliam created in 1903/04.

Ginger Beaumont was the first player inducted into the HOF. I learn something new every day on here. I was hoping to learn who the Bad Santa was, but this will have to do. I have a really nice Beaumont from the David Hall collection. Maybe Beaumont's cards are due for a nice price run-up.
