Default Original Baseball Studio Photo - What year?

My mom found this in the family box of old pictures. She believes it to be her grandfather, my great grandfather. Her father was born around 1920. It is a studio picture. It is original and at bottom of Matt is imprinted with "Richard Studios, Valdosta, GA". With that tid bit, I am going to guess that the ballplayers uniform says Valdosta? The entire photo is about 5" x 8".
I would really appreciate your thoughts and comments. I want to learn more about it, as it is family and original Sorry for the picture glare, and my mom wrote on it decades ago ....part of it's charm I guess.
It means a lot to me (as I am a baseball collector) and it feels like I hit a family jewel.
Thank you for any thoughts or information. Casey
(Btw, I am generally on the autograph sub-board. I hope this is the right board for these questions).

it looks like it could be the right vintage for what you are describing. Frame is from about 1910-15

Here's a link to Valdosta's teams at BaseballRef.com. Have you looked up your great-grandfather's name there?

Thanks for the link. At first glance I don't see his name in the early years rosters. It's possible the picture was just a family friend. Mom's dad died just after the war when she was 11. So we don't have too much history on that side of the family. I have had this photo in my study a long time.

I work in Valdosta. Might be able to help.
What was his name?
I have some local baseball buffs as friends. Might be able to get the year anyway.
Back in then those days, we had a minor league team so maybe.....
Be glad to help.

His last name was Delk. But, in tracing back family history through census and such, the family name is recorded a lot of different ways. Like he is also found as Delke, Dutch and some others. It seems immigrant names got all kinds of spellings throughout the years (they were German). I will look through my files to get more info. And it might not even be him. Looking at the link, it looks like this pic may be of the club Valdosta Millionaires? Any help appreciated. Cool studio photo...original.

A Google image search shows two pics of what appears to be the 1913 team:

Cool. The uniforms are quite different in style and markings. My photo seems to be in right time frame? He looks snazzy.

Cool. These uniforms look like a different style and markings. My photo seems to be about same time frame? Perhaps the style of glove helps date it?

Cruising eBay and happen to come across this. Uniform looks very similar to mom's picture. Not the same guy of course. Also, note same type position noted as "pitcher". This is a 1920 card. The Valdosta Millionaires roster timing appears right for around 1916. Still working on the name of the player, hopefully in mom's stuff.
