Default 1911 World Series Bender-Mathewson Game One postcard

I added this postcard to my Chief Bender collection this week from Brockelman Auctions (I highly recommend Scott and his customer service). The same one was previously sold in an REA auction. I can find no other reference to this postcard, has anyone else seen this postcard anywhere else? It appears to have been issued by Hallock's in Elmira, NY although Underwood might have licensed the postcard to other regional merchants for advertisers.

The postcard specifically relates to Game One. Bender lost that game, but won three other games in the Series. Do postcards exist for the other games? As a Bender collector I would love to see them if they exist.

I agree. I was bidding on it but dropped out a bit early. Now I think I regret it . Great postcard. No idea about the question though......

Interesting Greg, I'll bet your Mathewson has an October 1911 date stamp and an Underwood stamp as well. I believe this shot was likely taken at the 1911 World Series by an Underwood photographer, the postcard with the copyright would seem to suggest that.

I have seen the Bender shot before, attributed to 1911 but haven't seen one with a date stamp to place it at the Series.

I think I have the right original glass plate negative for the McGraw and Mack image.

Edit: perhaps taken at the same time from a slightly different angle.

Thanks Tom, the World Series etching on the glass only furthers my hunch that all three of the photos used were taken at the World Series by Underwood photographers. You're right about yours being taken at a slightly different angle, I'd bet the handshake was a big moment and there was a row of photographers for the shot.

Anyone have an original of the Bender shot?

Here is the Bender photo, note how they tilted it slightly for the postcard. There was no identifying information on the Bender photo itself, can anyone place it at the 1911 World Series?
