Default Help.. 1954 Red Heart

Hey, Just joined this forum because my father came upon a complete set of the 1954 Red Heart baseball cards in a box that belong to his late brother-in- law that had not been opened for over 25 years! We need help as to where to start with this collection. Are these the real deal? Reprints? Who can look at these? I will try to post pics later this weekend. Thanks

I got my first view of the cards tonight... I guess the reprints say "reprint" on the back. They are in near mint condition!!!

If the cards came in a box from Red Heart, I wouldn't throw it away. Collectors love stuff like that. From what I recall, you could still buy sets from Red Heart into the early 1970s, which might explain why so many you find are in nice shape. I also remember the cards with blue backgrounds were very easy to find in the mid-1970s, and the ones with the red backgrounds were quite tough. If you post some photos, it shouldn't be too hard to tell if they are real. Some reprints are stamped with "reprint" on the back, while others aren't. From what I recall, the colors are more muted on the reprints, and the borders are wider and whiter.

Also measure the cards. Some of the Red Heart reprints are smaller than the originals.
