Default is there a good way to purchase through the mail thats not ebay or here?

Has anyone figured out a good way to purchase through the mail? I have an offer on a card that may or may not be a scam and was wondering if there is any safe way to pay for this? i assume Paypal doesnt take resposibility if its not bought from ebay?

You can take a personal check. I believe you can know if it's cleared within 24 hours after deposit and the buyer can't have the funds electronically returned as with PayPal.

I am sure ebay only cares (and barely at that) about what happens on ebay. As for this situation I would call them on the phone and try to get a comfort factor there. Very few times will a scammer pass the smell test on the phone. Also, with the breadth of this board there is about a 98% chance we have a board member, in their area, that might be able to pick it up and pay for it in person for you......just a few thoughts. Let us know how it goes.....

You can take a personal check. I believe you find if it's cleared or bounced within 24 hours after deposit, then you ship to the person listed on the check. The buyer can't have the money electronically returned as with PayPal.

Pay through Paypal with a credit card or just pay with a credit card. If things go a-rye you can charge it back.

Yes if the item is damaged, fails to show, and several other reasons set forth by the CC company. I would go online to your CC CO and read the terms and conditions about charge backs. They all have similar rules but can differ by company.

Just go there an read it. I am sure there are always loop holes around things. I personally would never use it unless I had to but alto of scammers recently have deviststed some people doing this and they keep the items. So i am sure you will have no problem settling an issue.

I bought a T206 cobb green background and a 51 mantle from a guy once. Showed up and the card were almost close to the ones I bought but they were fake and the ones on the screen were real. i paid through paypal and in the notes wrote what it was for and terms of agreement. Thats what saved my ass from loosing 1k. Paypal took care of it because I had the terms in the notes as well as a return reciept w/signature confirmation from the PO. Maybe this is a good option but pay with a card for safety.
