Default The Other Monsters

Posting in the "What's Your Monster Number?" thread made me think about the other big prewar sets besides T206 with over 400 cards in them, specifically T210 (if you combine all eight series into one set), T212 (if you combine all three years into one), and Old Judges (N172, where the exact number of cards depends on your definitions). I have over 50 from each of these sets, a decent sampling but nowhere near a complete set for any of them. Specifically, I have 64 different T210s, spread across all eight series (but concentrated in Series 1, 2, and 5); 69 different T212s (three 1909, 52 1910, 14 1911) plus six duplicates; and 57 Old Judges, not including one that I have coming in the mail. For Old Judges I'm counting different poses of the same player as different cards; I have three or four of those, so if you're going by number of different players, my total would go down correspondingly.

I know that there are collectors of all three of these sets on this board, and I'm wondering if any of them might be willing to divulge their totals. I'm also kind of curious how common my scattershot approach to collecting is, and thus how many people on the board have at least 50 cards from each of T210, T212, and N172.

T210 I have 52 spread out over all 8 series. Trying to just buy $25 or under beaters so it is taking me a while.

I have narrowed my collecting down to a handful of sets. The ones that qualify within your parameters are:

T206.......501
T212 (only 1910: The Slogan Backs)......111
T210 141 across only 6 Series. I have no Series 4 nor Series Eight
N172.....1 ( I bought it, didn't love it but, will keep it just the same)

The other sets are;

T201 44
M101-4/5......59
T207.....104

That is enough to keep me busy until I pull the plug on collecting or they pull the plug on me........

N172: I have 283 different players and approx 320 poses
T210: 4, all Point Pleasant players and plan to get the team set...eventually
T212: I think I also have four, maybe five. Just type cards/different backs, didn't plan to collect the set.

Besides OJ's and T206 cards, I don't think I have more than 10-12(T205) of any other pre-war set unless I'm forgetting something.

I have unfortunately had to sell some higher grade T210's lately. Most I have been able to downgrade as I go away from graded on Series 1,3,and 6. Still have a good number towards the set. Im back in for the whole 640 minus 1. Just had to tweak it a little. Here are my totals for the three sets mentioned plus my new favorite issue.

T212=0 Never owned one
N172=2 Got a cool little OJ subset in the works
T210=411 Plus a raw partial Series 2 duplicate set
T209-2= 46 of those B&W beauties

Glad someone mentioned "other sets" - thanks, Mike!

T206....... 0 (Though I did have about 175 diff Pirates till 2012)
T212....... 0
T210....... 0
N172....... also 0

The only set is:

T207..... 750 or so - ~600 diff F/B

Yep, its an obsession!

Good idea for a thread. There are some "other monsters" out there that don't seem to get as much love from the collecting public.

As far as your suggestions for other monsters:

N172: 50
T210: 2 (I sold most that I had within the past few years)
T212: not sure on exact number, but a few handfuls

My personal monsters:

1911-1928 Zeenuts: 2,118 different (including print variations)
1920-1922 "E121-like" cards: over 620 different front/back combinations

Anybody else? I didn't mean to limit this to N172, T210, and T212, though those are of the most interest to me, and the biggest sets outside T206. I've loved hearing about people's personal "monsters". I'm now over 50 T205s, which I guess puts me at about a quarter of the set. Am I'm now at double digits in T209-2, all raw, after recently getting my 10th.

I'm not even getting into nonsport cards like T59 Flags of All Nations, of which I have maybe 500, including a set of 200 and about 3/4 of a second set.

N172: 87
T210: 15 (all are Series 2-4)
T212: Not sure, somewhere >100, but <200 (most are 09 Obaks either from my set or dupes)
