Default Obscure MLB teams through the centuries

We all know the New York's, Chicago's, L.A's of MLB. Along with a few other teams who have been around since the first few years of the league/leagues's. But how about the Worcester's, Troy's, and even the 1884 Richmond team who joined the league for half a season. They didnt even finish in the cellar! Pretty good for a B team moving up on short notice. Its a pretty interesting list from the 19th century of teams/cities involved. Anyone live in one of the cities where MLB baseball came and went?

My all time favorite, from the 1884 Union Association:

Wilmington Quicksteps 2 16 0.111

They jumped in late from the Eastern League, and had the great "The Only" Nolan, and the not so great Jersey Bakley.

(Oh, never lived there)

My mom's family is from Elizabeth, NJ, where they had the 1873 Elizabeth Resolutes of the National Association. They finished 2-21 and lost all eight home games

Kansas City has had its fair share of odd teams

Union Association
1884 Kansas City Cowboys (Record:16-63)

American Association
1888 and 1889 Kansas City Cowboys (1888 Record: 43-89 1889 Record: 55-82)

National League
1886 Kansas City Cowboys (Record: 30-91)

Federal League
1914 and 1915 Kansas City Packers (1914 Record 67-84 1915 record 81-72)

American Association
1888-1954 Kansas City Blues

Western League
1894-1900 Kansas City Blues

Surprised KC didn't have a team in the Missouri Valley League

One of my favorite pieces, a unique CdV of the 1876 Hartford Blue Stockings, a founding member of the National League. The CdV has amazing clarity and features Candy Cummings

We had our first baseball team here in 1874.
Our first pro team was the Winnipeg Metropolitains who finished 2nd in the Manitoba league their only season in 1886.
The photo is from Lewis Stubbs book.

Two of my favorite Old Judge era team names were the Jersey City Skeeters and the Rochester Hop Bitters.

I'm originally from Worcester Mass. I didn't know anything about the Worcesters until I joined Net54.
