Default A NEW (from 1947?) Exhibit card ad back

Hi All:

I know this belongs in the post war forum, but there are enough Exhibit collectors here that I thought I would share it in both forums with Leon's permission.

I recently obtained a sample of a printed ad on the back of a Del Ennis Exhibit card that came out of Puerto Rico!

See scan below. The wording roughly translates to:

Attention Children

The Bomb Chiclets Bring Rewards

Try your Luck - Buy Now

Distributor

Victor Sallaberry

Guanica, P.R.

Does anyone here have others with this back, or any info about the set?

I have what I assume is a partial checklist with poses listed below along with the year of issue in the US. I did this to try to figure out the year these were issued in Puerto Rico. The collector I got it from thought he recalled them being from 1947, though he had no real recollection of why he thought that. Looks like it may be from 1949, though it does include some cards from the Salutation set as well.

So this adds to the list of other ad backs on Exhibit cards Like the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Triple Nickel Books, the different M.J. Holloway Black Cow Suckers, and the Dad's Cookies out of Canada. Not to mention an unreadable printing or stamp I have seen on quite a few other Exhibits which I will also show below. Again, if anyone has one, or others more readable PLMK.

First time I have seen the one from PR, the red stamp I do know its from the back card on ones that were sold in the plastic pack wrappers.

Cool find.

A better translation for that first line is "Bubble gum brings prizes"

Thanks Bryan! I thought the translation I found was a bit "off"!

Yours make much more sense.
