Default Can anyone identify this Ralph Houk uniform?

I assumed it was something military related, but it doesn’t seem to line up with anything that I have found. Originally having seen that he played for the 89th Calvalry Reconnaissance squadron I thought maybe that was what it stood for but I’m not so sure about that translating to an “RC” hat logo.

He was assigned to and played for the Fort Leavenworth Army Reception Center team in 1942.

Definitely Kansas as I have this photo during the National Baseball Congress games showing two players in the same uniform. Probably the Kansas State tournament portion. This came from Ralph Winegarner that is shown wearing the Beechcraft jersey.

That's a great photo! I had an opportunity to acquire a Beechcraft team jersey that was likely from this season but I passed on it adhering strictly to our needs and focus.

My pleasure. This image looks like it was in a publication of sorts, judging by the halftone. Do you know the origin?

So much of this history is long forgotten but was a key aspect of the character of these men.

Than you! If you ever run onto it again let me know. Cessna or Boeing also for that matter.

If it is a Boeing, all bets are off (my son works there).

The Fort Leavenworth Replacement Center team played in the 1942 National Baseball Congress World Series. I would assume that would be the uni with an RC cap.

Ha, ok🤣. I work for Cessna, now Textron so would love to find one of those. Beech is now part of Textron and I’ve worked that side as well so either would be great. I didn’t research the CR just figured it was the Fort Riley Centaurs. This photo has Garagiola and Reiser in it.
