Default James Jeffries autograph help

A friend picked this up in a box of boxing stuff at an auction Saturday. Looks good to me but I’m far from an expert. Thanks for any help!

On face value it looks close. Unfortunately these FDC’s are common targets for forgers. On first glance it looks close, but he’s a tough auto. It appears it’s dated 1950 and if I remember correctly he does in about 1953. His signature got shaky at the end, but I don’t know if anyone will give you a definite good or bad without paying the $.

Another positive is it was stamped Burbank which is where he lived at the time and passed away. You’re looking better.

Quite a puzzle.

The cover itself was three years after the stamp was issued. And on the opposite coast as the stamp was issued in Boston.

The ink of the signature looks like it's over the postmark, so it should have been in Chicago a couple days after the postmark. And the POD didn't generally like people signing envelopes while they were in transit.

But, since he lived in Burbank, I had a quick look for an event that might make the whole thing make sense.
A quick look showed that May 31 1950 was the 25th anniversary of Burbanks first park, Vickroy Park. Sooo …. maybe a celebration on that day?
