Legendary results
What did everyone think of the results from the sale? I think there are bargains out there.

I haven't really analyzed prices yet but a few caught my eye:
2009 T226 Johnson: $19,120.00 2012 T226 Johnson: $8,365.00 Given the price of the the lower grade one that sold earlier this year, I did not expect this one to break $10K. 2009 E125 Jeffries: $19,120.00 2012 E125 Jeffries: $4,182.50 I collect Jeffries but I simply could not afford it given the current state of my card budget. Great card, congrats to whoever bought it--you just made my death list. J/K. 2009: Joe Gans SGC 70 $2,629.00 2012: $388.38 Someone got a f*****g steal on this. I forgot all about it...

Dont kill me, I bought the Jeffries. I really believe that if you buy now at reduced levels, there is opportunity a few years down the line

Rogers Peet boxers
If anyone picked up the Rogers Peet boxers lot, I need the Dempsey & the Schmeling cards (if they're for sale).
Thanks!

Quote:
The Red Sun cards present an interesting situation. When the majority of the set first surfaced in a 19th Century Only auction I considered them to be extremely scarce, with many cards being the only known specimens. Jeff Hull grabbed those lots and then sold them in 2009 as part of his liquidation, again at a time when relatively few of the cards were found and they were subject to heavy competition when offered, which the Dreiers won. The elimination of Hull and Dreier from the market made a dent in demand to be sure, but there has also been a surge of T226s into the market. Prices have eroded even more than the average boxing card prices as a result, as collectors have picked up the cards they wanted and dropped out of the competition. I know I did not seriously pursue any of the groups in the Legendary sale simply because I have my examples already and don't have any interest in finishing the set.

Jeff, I won the Rogers Peet lot and only need the Dempsey. Contact me if you're interested in the Schmelling.
