Born on this date 104 years ago today was the man who ranks 23rd in career batting average(.330)among guys with over 5000 at-bats. Manush batted over .300 in 11 of his 15 full seasons including twice hitting .378 and one of those years he missed,he hit .298 while finishing 2nd in triples and scoring over 100 runs.He twice led the league in doubles, once in average, twice in hits, once in triples and 6 times scored over 100 runs.4 times he finished top 5 in the mvp voting.

So on his birthday lets celebrate by posting some scans of this great hitter.C'mon everyone, show your Heinie's!

For not trying to pass this off as the ultra rare "Honus Manush".

I'm at work and don't have a picture handy, but I can tell you I appreciated his talent a while ago, so I grabbed my Heinie at a Gloria Rothstein show back in 1997.

My youngest daughter's favorite ballplayer! She always found that name hilarious! She still does (she is 35 yrs. old). Yikes, how can that be? She is almost older than me.

Here's a cancelled check from 1970, he died the next year. He was inducted in 1964, 25 years after he retired.

Here's his Perez/Steele postcard.

I saw that, Jay!

I guess it is safe to assume that the CARD COMPANY put the "autographs" on the cards and NOT the players!!!

I think Heinie would have gotten his own name right.

I used to send out 3x5 cards to players and always included one card with a question that I requested they answer.

Would that be considered a trifecta of Heinie's?
