Default Pre game post

Only three members, who have even a very remote chance of winning, have not checked in yet.

The four members tied for second with 10 points currently have the field covered with the four different permutations for today's games.

Therefore someone will have 16 points tonight.

Therefore if you have 10 points or less on this evening's scoreboard, you do not need to enter the Super Bowl tiebreaker total points pool.

It is possible that the 11 point threshold for the tiebreaker entry will increase to 12.

For the tiebreaker, so that it is truly a tiebreaker, everyone who picks Team A must select a different number of points and likewise for Team B, although one entry for each team may have the same number of total points.

The tiebreaker point totals will be recorded on a first come, first serve basis.
If you qualify for the tiebreaker, please enter you total point guess at the same time as your Super Bowl pick. For example SF 47 or ATL 56.

The total point guess closest to the actual total points will win the tiebreaker, if the tiebreaker is even needed. If there is a tiebreaker tie for example with one guess 1 point over and one guess 1 point under, the under guess will be the winner (by executive order).

Duplicate entries will be awarded to the person who posts first. Tiebreaker entries for those who have no chance of winning will be ignored.

If there are only few duplicate tie breaker entries, I will try to notify you before the Super Bowl, and you will be allowed to change your point total guess one time only. All other tie breaker entries are final and may not be changed after posting. This will help me keep track of things. I will make the upper portion of tonight's list bold for those members who need to enter a tiebreaker guess for total points.

I think this covers everything relevant to the tie breaker procedure and the rules governing it.

One final note - If SF and BAL win today, you may not pick HARBAUGH to win the Super Bowl.

Not to spoil the party but....if there are at least two players ahead of you after today's games, and each picks a different team to win the Superbowl, everyone below them is officially eliminated. Sad but true.

Yeppers. I picked what I thought was the oddball matchup, that would give me the best chance to make a move. Suddenly the Harbaugh bowl seems like the hot pick. And I think I'm pretty much out of running no matter what at this point..

Safe to assume that at least one of the 14s, if not all, will differ from T206BrownHindu, our leader with 16, in their final game pick, therefore only if you have fourteen points now are you requested to enter the tie breaker and predict the total points scored in the Super Bowl.

I won't make people wait on my pick, it will be the...

Baltimore Ravens

I didn't wager one dime this postseason...and I end up going 9-1 so far and would have probably won all of them against the spread, too!

With 2 different picks with people ahead of me, I'm already out now, so F*** it, I'm going for 2nd place. So I'll follow you. My pick is Baltimore. Even though I'm at 13, and points won't mean anything, I'll be a rebel and throw some points out anyway. 47

Default Clarification of Tiebreaker Status

Only 6 participants need to enter the tiebreaker and they know who they are.

The following guesses for the tiebreaker have been entered:

51
42
45
48
54

One of the six has not entered a guess as yet, but assures me that he will.

Any number other than those five will be considered valid.

Members who have submitted tiebreaker guesses, but who are not qualified for the tiebreaker, are being held in an undisclosed location pending relocation to a more secure undisclosed location. All of their tiebreaker guesses are considered invalid and will be dealt with according to the unpublished punitive rules of this contest.

Your friendly pool administrator, Frank

PS # 1 - The halftime reveal on the "54" thread is still in play and Beyonce has agreed to lip sync during that post.

PS # 2 - Yogi cannot read or is defiant. He will be apprehended. See post # 233

Damn. There went my strategy. I apologize for posting a point total when I was "technically" out of it. But in reality, there was a slight chance that those of us at 13 could still win. Which I will now explain.

The leader chimed in with Baltimore, and everyone at 14 took the cue and went with SF(as expected). However, the possibility remained that the leader could change his choice to SF, and have it somehow go unnoticed. Thus at 13, we could've been the only ones with Balt as a choice.

Anyways, given how this game is looking. I'd be happy to finish in 2nd place Although, as a Browns fan, not happy that Baltimore will probably win again.

Default Lights Out for SF

I know that the fat lady hasn't sung yet, just Beyonce, but it's not looking good for a SF tiebreaker finish to the pool. Interesting that the lights are out on the San Francisco side of the field.

Default Thanks Frank

Frank,
Thanks for doing this, it was fun! Figures the team I win with is my least favorite (I am a big Steelers fan).

Lost going against my home team Ravens in Conference Championship. Oh well, thanks for the contest. Had to take the 49ers for a chance to win, glad the Ravens brought it home though.
