I picked this up today at a show. It is from the Harpers weekly newspaper, dating 1874 at the top, and includes pictures of McbRide, Clapp, Mcgeary, Mullen, Weston, Battin, Sutton, Gedney, and Cap Anson.

Nice cards bob

Just picked these up today at a local card show. Usually not a lot of pre-war at the show but I couldn't pass on them, they were just too nice. I forced myself to put down 3 other HOF'ers.

Even though it's trimmed I couldn't pass it up. Never seen this ad on the back though I would imagine more exist. I have seen several other movie theatre type ads....

I've had terrible luck on ebay lately. I was underbidder on a number of cards I really wanted like a low grade square frame ramly, '37 WWG Dimaggio, and a '34 WWG Ruth.

However, I did nab a '37 Zeenut tonight, a Buck Barker special courtesy of the mighty MANOS (the seller), and Julie (for getting me hooked on these).

Is it my poor eyesight, or does Rob's Tinker look like an awfully nice 10?

I'm thinkin' 30, but, of course we can't see the back.

I was the underbidder on Rob's Tinker (thanks a lot Rob ). It had a beautiful front and 25% (roughly) paperloss on the reverse. Personally, I would say the front looks more like a 50.

Hal, the 2006 catalog lists the 1929 Star Gehrig in VG at $2,250. E-mail me if you can "update" me on current value. Thanks.

Hal- Although everyone will be singing the praises of the Lajoie, the Collins is what intrigues me, the first I have ever seen. Nice pickup, to say the least.

Josh,
Nice card. I have been paying attention to the E93s you are gathering and it seems to me like you are putting together a very nice set. They are all clean and nice and have real good visual appeal.
JimB
P.S.I appreciate the trade offer, but I think I will hold off for now.

Jim - thanks for the kind words - though you really should reconsider my trade offer. Im pretty pleased with how the set is coming together. I definitely have a few that need to be upgraded, but all the HOFers are very presentable.

Front is gorgeous; back is a mess. Elected to hockey hall of fame first year of its existance (1945). Great defenceman and scorer.

For some of you, the T206 is the holy grail, for me, it is the m101-4/5 set(s). As is such, I present to you the first 4 cards of my attempt to build that set. Won at the Fusco auction in November.

Or have I seen that Abe picture somewhere before on this forum. I think it may have been a cabinet from the BST thread.

My website: http://photobucket.com/albums/b45/trib01/
I am always looking for Walter Johnson cards. Buying or trading for T206 Johnson and Mathewson portraits.

(Bryan: you may have seen Julie's Abe in Mastro's Americana catalogue in the auction closing last night)

For some unexplicable reason (ok, easily explicable, but not understandable http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=153652&messageid=1087942149 ), I collect Wally Schang cards. Here is my biggest Schang, which I recently picked up

in the B/S/T column. Seller could guarantee nothing. This one is an "albumen" print (we'll see about THAT when it gets here!), which means it was printed between 1864--1900. The exact same picture, signed by Lincoln (SUCH goergeous handwriting--straight and to the point), with a reverse indicating it's from the Brady Studios, sold for 106K before juice..mine was 294.00...
