I put together an unimaginably horrible set. Here's a little website I did about the adventure. Most of the set are skins, but most of the key cards are at least fronts and backs.

A few pickups in the last month or so. The Barger partial B, Kirb White, and Wiltse are Piedmont 42's.

Was this the T205 Adkins that just ended on Ebay tonight?

Nope, that example was graded by PSA. He seems to be getting tougher and tougher to find in "4" grade and above.

Nice cards folks.

Looking at these cards and this thread actually motivated me to impulse purchase a 15 card lot of T205's at the Toronto Sports Card Expo on the weekend, and buy 2 more last night on ebay!!

Just a little side project in addition to my T206's!!

Working on a low grade set and just picked up a lot of 4 SP's on eBay for ~$160. Pretty excited even though the cards are banged up. Such a fun set to collect!

Thanks. The Gold Border cards are beautiful when they have little chipping and are centered nicely. These 2 just in from our BST section. Lot's of good pick ups there lately. The Ford is graded a 2 because of some insignificant back staining. I want all of my 2s to look that way.

Default Great start to 2018

I've been patiently waiting for the right Cobb to come along for my raw set. Imagine my surprise when I saw this in a dealer's showcase this morning at a small 50 table card show in Columbus, OH.

Popped from an SGC 40 holder for those interested.

This has been such a fun set to put together in raw form. Closing in on the final dozen cards in VG/EX condition. Here's to 2018!

Great looking cards, guys. (I'm partial to the NL cards, I think they look cooler than the AL cards).

BTW, I've always loved Sam Leever's signature.

Default T205 one card at a time

144/151 Cubs front reverse combos in the case and 23/24 minor leagers spread out with Hanford Polar Bear on the way. Many of you know I have been working on T205 Cubs for a couple of years. Have 7 different Cubs/ reverses to find.

There are a ton for sale in auctions right now. I know LOTG, Mile High and some others have 05s I am looking at. The problem is that 98% of them don't meet my specs!! Try finding greatly centered ones with almost no chipping AND not super high grade? It's tough out here. And I think Joshua needs some more Bates cards.

Default Fun

Trying to put together a low grade beater set and yet still ended up buying a 128 card SGC graded lot. Picking out a few I needed and the selling has begun.....

Default Sovereign backs

I'm getting close on my complete Sovereign back set...which is 123 cards. No Cobb, thankfully! Anybody have one of these Sovereigns to help fish me off:

Lennox
Moriarity
Mullin
Rucker
Schmidt
Stone
Thomas

Thanks!

I started January 1 of this year trying to build a beater set and am sitting at 100 or so.

What is the target number you are trying to get to? I believe there is 221?

Looking foe a few toughies. Obviously the Hindu cards of Cubs, 3 AB backs and overall in Piedmont 42 back. Getting tough at this time.

Thanks....I am probably around 120'ish into it with this tilted but acceptable one (today) and will probably end up in the 220-225 range. There will be a few variations thrown in but with no rhyme or reason as to which ones .... ..It has continued to be purposefully slow going, and still fun, finding the right ones...and I guess it bears mentioning that my standards have gone up, along with the price tags, since the first part of the project. I used to be more lenient on my requirements. A lot of those have now been upgraded, visually speaking.

the set is quickly becoming incredibly attractive regardless of grade, except for that mistake you made on the Oakes card

Thanks Scott....it is really a great looking set when the cards look nice...This one is a bit o/c but not bad otherwise...

Top to bottom has always bothered me less than side to side. Nice card.

Yeap, left to right is what I look at first. Then top to bottom (a little bit bigger on bottom, if not close to 50/50, is preferable), then chipping, then the back. This Bridwell was a slight upgrade because I don't mind a wrinkle if the other characteristics are there. And the other I have is not as well centered. Each card, not unlike other sets, has its own set of characteristics which makes it fun to collect. It can be specific to what each person likes. I am sure a large number of collectors couldn't live with the wrinkle on this card and that is great, less competition. And if an example I like better than this one comes a long I will upgrade it too...

Default Finally completed my low grade T205 NY Giants subset!

Not a complete set of T205's ... but I did recently finish my T205 NY Giants subset. The last card was the SP Bugs Raymond. So I'm officially done with T205!

Over my lifetime I've tried to complete T205 (and T206) at least three times. Each time I gave up about half way through because the HOFER's and SP's were just too pricey (even in lower grade). I guess I'm a slow learner :-) Anyway ... I finally decided to do a NY Giants subset since my great, great uncle Larry Doyle played for the Giants. I'm doing the same for T206. Still not cheap because it's the Giants ... but I really enjoy it. So many cool ways to collect T205/T206!

With four new additions last week, I'm now up to 150 T205s, all PSA.

I am on my third try to complete the t205 set. I agree it is a frustrating try to track down certain cards. It has caused me to quit and sell off cards twice. I found the t206 set to be much easier to collect.

Thanks Scott ... took me awhile ... but once I settled on just one team (the Giants) it made things a bit easier :-) Patience was key. Plus it was fun!
