I'm working on a large and extensive book on sports photographs 1800s to today. At this time I am gathering images of photos and folks who wish to conribute a photo they find interesting (1880s baseball to to 1990 tennis) can contact with images. One reason for using pictures is to help readers understand and identify. The second is to give them a variety of interest so they can chose what they like. If an interesting real photo postcard of a bowlwer makes the reader want to collect bowling photos, that's great.

Second, though I'm not a fan of price guides, the publisher requires pricing information. I will do this by prividing examples of prices realized, cheap to expensive, to give the reader a feel for pricing. If anyone wishes to contact me about prices they've purchased or sold at, that would be great. Again, the listed rices will be from cheap to expensive, so I need info on $3 purchases as much as $5,000.

This is a project I plan on fishing by this summer, so there's no great rush.

Thanks and my email is linked above,
David

David,
I was going to email but i thought the answer might be of interest to the rest of the group so......

Are you looking for photographs of professional sports team/groups/individuals only or just interesting photographs in general that have sports teams/themes e.g. college/town/high school even, etc.?

The book will cover every organized sport but Badger baiting and speed hedge pruning.

The object of the book is to be a guide to the collector no matter what sport interest them. In the section on cabinet cards, for example, I intend to show cabinets of various sports. Some sports, like baseball and football, will naturally get more attention than ping pong.

Not sure I have much that you don't or won't soon have an abundance of, but let me know if I can help (19th Century baseball, likely with Detroit content).

Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski
