Default Anyone know what this is on the back of this Hornsby card?

Acquired this in a tobacco and strip card collection awhile back. Its a Hornsby strip card but when I turn it around it has a printing of an additional player. (Not sure if its Hornsby or another player). Anyway, and additional info would be appreciated.

Probably a Hornsby pix from a magazine or newspaper glued to the back

+1

Brian (I think I did that correctly, as I am relatively new to the +1 scene)

It's bizarre that he's pictured as a lefty on the strip card. The other pic seems to show him (if it's him) as left handed, too, but it could possibly be a righty follow through swing...but I don't think so. Weird. (And I won't even mention his misspelled name.)

W516-1-2 has reverse images. He's shown as a righty in W516-1-1.

The B&W image on the back looks like a young Hornsby to me.

Cliff! That's the exact image I was thinking of when I looked at the card posted!

Good catch Cliff. Hornsby has a couple of shots that, if cropped a certain way, could make him look like a left-handed hitter.

Also note that the bottom of the card has the IFC copyright in reverse, which indicates that the image has been reversed.

That particular one at least to me looks like he's hitting lefty for some reason, rather than just being an odd cropping of a follow through.

I wonder if he would do that during practice? Maybe to limit power? Or some control purpose?

It's darn difficult to switch if you're not used to it, but maybe for someone with a ton of skill it wouldn't be bad.

But you can see on the modern card that his right hand is on top. It certainly appears to be the same image.

It is the same image, I was thinking the way his body was and where his hands were didn't look like a follow through.

Then I went looking for a follow through pic I'd seen earlier, and came across this, which is really similar in ways

So it looks like I totally blew that call....
