Default Take a guess at what these will grade? The Results are in!

Sending these in to PSA this week. Curious on the expert opinions here on what these will grade. Opinions are appreciated.

Thanks!

#1 - 1955 Topps Clemente - there is a spot on the pinstripe of the leg, it is a small wax globule, not an impression or a dent
img599.jpg

img603.jpg

#2 - 1955 Topps Koufax

img600.jpg

img604.jpg

#3 - 1954 Topps Aaron - you can see there is small surface wrinkles that show through on the back of the card in the upper right hand portion of the scan, these are tougher to see on the front, but you can see a bit in the name Aaron.

Is the Aaron card curled in your pic?

Koufax is the nicest and I'd say a 5-6.

Aaron, 3-4 if not trimmed and Roberto a 5-6 depending how they view that glob?

Before sending it off, use some pantyhose to get rid of "Glob" Clemente.

Yes just a bit I had the scanner lid open to get the dark background to show the card better but yes it has a bit of a curl

Well the grades posted today – a few of you are apparently ready to quit your day jobs and become PSA Graders

The closest in their guesses were:

Irv- who gave more of a “range” on cards but will credit him with being ˝ grade total off

Connor and hcv123 - who were spot on with Hank of Koufax - - and I wish they were right on Clemente being a 5 - as they were just a half point higher on Roberto

Chalupacollects and Swarmee - who had the Koufax a shade higher but were right on with the other two.

VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT+ 4.5 1955 Topps 164 Roberto Clemente
EXCELLENT+ 5.5 1955 Topps 123 Sandy Koufax
VERY GOOD 3 1954 Topps 128 Henry Aaron

I had both the Koufax and Clemente a bit higher. But, it's hard from a scan. Congrats, those are still pretty sweet.

Maybe so, I considered try to brush it off, however I was more worried about paper coming with it.

Unfortunately these are not my cards, as I would be selling them to fund some Crawford purchases!

Next time try rubbing pantyhose over the glob as Darren suggested earlier in the thread. After reading his suggestion, I tried it on some of my own cards. I must say, it worked rather well. Didn’t get everything off, especially the older stuff. But it actually removed a few gum stains and other unknown sources of goo (not all of them, but some). The key is to not rub too hard, as I “streaked” some of the blue sky in my Bench rookie from pressing down to hard. A nice relaxed stroke should do the trick 😂

Of course I had some ‘splaining to do when the wife walked in and saw me with my arm shoved up her pantyhose.

I frequently just use my shirt tail to remove wax stains from older gum cards. Works very well.
