Default Heritage Auction winnings, z11 Bohen, and a couple late-night thoughts....

On the whole, great auction! Loved the variety of t and e cards as well as a lot of PCL/minor league stuff and a good group of e107s. Very, very diverse in the offering this time around and I felt there was truly something for everyone. I thought prices on the e107s and a lot of the singles that were sold did very well. Seems that lots and sets didn't do as well IMO but I'll get to that.

It was an absolute treat to get to see this card -

lfbohen.jpg

Personally, in 12-15 years of collecting in this hobby, I had never seen it before now. So I figured I'd throw it out here so everyone could have a gander. Truly the rarest of the rare! Most z11 set collectors don't even bother trying to find this card and call the set complete as soon as they get all the other cards - yes, it's that tough! Kudos to Heritage for making one available to the public!

Really good to see a lot of minor league cards in general and even sets in this auction. However, it was not easy to find the sets and lots. It may be just me, but I find Heritage's site very difficult to navigate. They show cards for multiple auctions, including those that haven't started yet, you have to really drill down using the search filters to locate what you're looking for, I find it difficult to get back to a lot I've visited before unless I mark the item for "tracking/watching", etc... you kind of have to know exactly where to go on the site which makes it really difficult to browse casually and easy to miss things. For instance, I almost missed all the d310/d311, Zeenut, Obak, etc... lots because I didn't realize that "lots" and "sets" were separated from the "singles". Most auction sites don't do this so I didn't really expect it here. There's just a ton of links in that left column and it seems easy to get lost.

For myself, I'm very happy with what I came away with - a complete d311 set! Lol...so I can finally finish the one I nearly had done. Also got some neat Obak scraps

Any other wins/losses from Net 54-land? Thoughts?

Default Congrats

Congrats on the D311 set Brian.

If the winner of the 1912 zeenut set would like to sell the 1912 Claude Berry Zeenut, I'm interested in finishing my run of catchers in this set.

I won both the 1911 Zeenut and 1912 Zeenut lots. I only needed ~10 cards per lot so I will have some 200 or so duplicates, that is never a bad thing though!

Fun auction, I had my eye on another lot but someone else saw what I did and the steal didn't end up being one!

Default Very strong prices for the T4 cabinets

Congrats Rhett!

I had an interest in the Hugh Smith T4, but couldn't justify going any higher. The writing on the front was a turn off for me.

I'm sure someone was excited about adding the new pose Buck Weaver T4.

Great scans, they calculate the BP for you, great search function (at least while auctions are live), for me the only issue can be getting within the right auction in the first place.

I picked this up. I was surprised bbpostcards let someone else get a Portland Rosebuds anything! I guess it is hockey, so maybe that was it. This is a great piece of history, since the 1925-26 Rosebuds were the last year of the WHL (and only year for the second version of the Portland Rosebuds) and sold to the NHL to form the Chicago Blackhawks, which launched Dick Irvin on his HOF career. This is a really cool card, and I was amazed I was able to get it. By far the best hockey piece I have.

Agree with Peter. They have so many auctions going on. Amazed sometimes how much fishing I need to do to find the sports auction closing in a few hours. Won't even be a link on the main page sometimes. Odd.

I didn't mention this particular example in my original point, but it's a great point. There have been multiple times before this auction even where it's been the final day and I just want to see the stuff that's ending and it's just like - where do you go? This past auction I found myself sifting through lots that hadn't even opened yet and I all I was really wanting to do was make sure I didn't miss anything that was ending that night. Kind of an irksome layout....

Patrick, Martin and others, thanks for the kind words!

I've had a couple people write me to ask about the d311s....I didn't partner with anyone on this group and I really only need a couple of them actually so yes, there will be tons of dupes left over eventually once everything arrives.

I would agree with all these points and add that they had a vast and very well-rounded selection too...

Nice pick ups Brian, was watching many items with hopes of landing maybe one or two. No luck. Thought the 107`s did well and was wondering if maybe a certain 54 member had gotten any. The Pickering with the letter was really a cool item. Also Edgr, that is one beautiful hockey piece, congrats on that sir.

Very nice Bruce, the Exclusive 12 in OM are very tough to find. Only 2-3 McGraws known.

Great back run as well.

Whoa! I was just acting as a reporter.

My pockets are not nearly THAT deep! I'd have to sell the condo and the car and would still end up way short.

Personally, I missed out on the 1960 Morrell Meats Sandy Koufax

I enjoy the auction because as a few of you have said there's something for everyone. Picked this up as a piece on my journey to complete a collector grade E92 set.

I may have paid a little too much for this one, but, I don't regret it:

Dave, nice Cobb, I was thinking about that to match my E93.

Scott, I would say that you are only type collecting, by individual, not really collecting the set. Pretty cards.

There was so much in this auction I wanted, curse my wallet for being too light!

As much as I'd like to think I could make a run at the set now that I'm 25% of the way there, there are just too many high-dollar cards among the other 75% that I don't think I'll ever get there! We'll see where it ends up with these, but happy to have them now!

Snagged this one last night

Also picked up this ring bat which I posted on the memorabilia pickups thread, but I'm very excited for this one.

I agree with the others. The Heritage website is the absolute most confusing website I have ever dealt with. I won 2 lots (Christy Mathewson type l pics) but would have won a couple more had their site not been so confusing. I at least know I would have put in way more bids. But agree, horrible website.
