Default After a year's hiatus, the suit and tie affair is back.

OK. We know that because the holiday season is upon us that we will have an occasion where we need to wear a suit and tie. Let's see what everyone has in the suit and tie department (as well as fedoras) in their cards, postcards and photo collections:

¡Felíz Navidad!

Matty as depicted by Benjamin Falk circa 1904. Used to be mine.

My E107 type card.

Vancouver mayor L. D. Taylor circa 1915. Not mine but thought it worthy of posting. Looks like he knew what he was doing.

Boys in blue 1928 WS

Seasons Greetings from Ol' Casey.

Can't remember if this is mine or whether I just scabbed the scan.
Smilin' Ken Landis wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

The Washington Senators won their first A.L. pennant and only World Series championship in 1924. On August 28-31, 1924, the Senators went to N.Y. and took 3 out of 4 games from the Yankees to gain sole possession of first place. When the team returned home around midnight, thousands of fans greeted them at Union Station. President Coolidge invited the team to the White House, where this photo was taken on September 2, 1924.

The Big Train was sick so wasn't wearing a uniform this day, so says his grandson (hi Hank). I think Mr. Johnson was quite dapper in his suit. I am not at home so borrowed this from Heritage, where it came from.

Hi Steve - I thought the story was pretty well known by now. First off, it is likely one of a kind. I acquired it from Mastro Auctions about seven years ago. Subsequently Peter Nash alleged that it was stolen from the BB Hall of Fame. Considering the source I let the situation fester for several years and it took a back seat to all the headache and humbug I incurred moving from Hawaii to British Columbia. Last year I made contact with the Hall through an attorney to ascertain if it was indeed theirs. They were able to demonstrate that it was. This past June my wife and I escorted the Falk Matty to Cooperstown and returned it to its rightful home. We were given a personal tour of the archives which was pretty cool (that's me with Harry Hooper's glove) and Graig Kreindler is making a painting of the image which is gonna be killer, but the whole affair was still a sorry-ass sojourn through the sleaze in which our hobby is mired.

Thanks David for the info...must have been really tough to go through that and you obviously loved the card and the frame job looks nice. Awesome you could get a tour of the archives but that must have really hurt...sorry if I drudged up bad memories on that.

You are a exception to the hobby and we thank you for that...hopefully the HOF actually displays it and doesn't keep it buried.
