Default Ted Williams autograph with an interesting story to boot!!

I have for sale a Ted Williams autographed hitting chart that appears to be a page taken from a book or magazine. This page is magazine size and has been matted in a dark blue mat since the day I have owned it. This autograph was obtained back in the late '70's or early '80's at the legendary Sports Collectors Store in LaGrange, Illinois. Don Steinback and Pat Quinn owned this store and brought athletes to their store before it was fashionable (and expensive) to do so and had them sign many items. This item was signed by Ted at one of these store signings. I have owned this item since the mid '80's and it is time to downsize and make room so that when my wife and I move next year, the load will be a bit lighter.

Now..for the interesting story.

As many of you who have been around the hobby for a long time know that Ted's son was a bit of a turd and at one time declared that a large majority of his father's autographs in the hobby were fake. He even went as far as to say in the Sports Collectors Digest that if anyone wanted their item authenticated that they should send him a copy and he will render his opinion. I took him up on this offer and sent him a photo copy of this very item I am selling. A year had went by and I heard nothing from Ted's kid and assumed he was all bluster. One day I went to the mail box and saw a letter from Ted Williams company staring back at me. In the envelope, on Ted Williams letterhead was a note from Ted's personal secretary that John Henry was certain my autograph was authentic. I was shocked that I had received a response after the amount of time that had passed but was happy to have received it.

I am selling this photo that has no rips, tears or creases and has been matted and covered in plastic since the day i received it. I will also include the letter from Ted's personal secretary with this sale. I am asking 99.00 OBO on this item which will include delivery. Please let me know your thoughts if you have interest.

Thanks

Andrew
