feldman was a jewish player and seplotnick is the biggest buyer of jewish cards- looks more like a bidding war that got out of hand

I agree. Feldman was the draw there, last 3 bids were too high, and the last 2 were through the roof.

A few years ago I bought a lot of Zeenuts, all ragged, all common. Day before the cards arrive I get an email from a fellow in NY who is mad that he missed the auction, and he dearly wants one of the cards. He offers $100 for it, almost 4 times what I paid for the lot. I told him I'd consider it, but that I wanted to get the cards, first. I got the card, and emailed a couple of guys who I think know more about Zeenuts than I think I know... they both said the card was common, not rare, and that the draw was that the player was Jewish, and had made the majors briefly as a pitcher. I emailed the NY guy back, and told him I'd sell if he still wanted it, $100 instantly appeared in my Paypal account. That bidding war is a seller's dream. My Dad used to tell me that anytime someone buys something at auction, he knows that he paid more for it than anyone else was willing to pay. But Dad was tight. A good trait.

That set is pretty difficult to find. If it was as common as a Remar set, the bidders wouldn't be ripping each other new ones over the lot.

The funny thing is the seller is about 5 miles from me.
