I agree with your assessment - it is impossible to "seal" anything in a velvet bag.

no Scott,i meant he didnt have any other T-206 cards to check out,but now that you point that out,im a little suspicious of his story...thanks Scott! If he does sell it tho,im selling mine because i spent $22 buying one in similar shape,guess i got it at the right time

In the early 1900's I purchased a bunch of screw down holders, which came with a black, blue or maroon velvet pouch for the holder. That's what I see in the scan.

Lucite screw down holders only cost about fifty cents. Check out AAA's annual report, they have their cost breakdowns, and the massive profit margin. Lucite is cheap, certainly not worth a BIN of $1500.
