Default REA surprise outcomes?

I was surprised how much the only 51 mantle rookie sold for...over 15K in psa 4.

What else surprised you?

I thought the prices for Exhibits were a little weak in light of the inflation we have seen lately. But some of them had some condition issues that were hard to overlook. For me at least.

I was surprised that the 1925 Waycross team photo, featuring Joe Jackson, went as low as it did considering that RMY Auction sold it for around $5,500.

The psa 2 ruth rc seemed high to me, as did the sgc 3.5 52 mantle. I was hoping that psa 5 n162 anson would stay a lot lower. Congrats to aj on the nice pick up.

Agree that seems high, but that is a "high-end" 4 if there ever was one.

It's very clear collectors are prioritizing eye appeal above numerical grade. As evidence from what I was watching:
- I lost a Goodwins Champion Cap Anson SGC 1 (Poor) once it went above $3k. (beautiful front, though).
- I also found it interesting that a CJ Cobb SGC 4 went for $18K, while an SGC 7 went for $22K. The 4 looked incredibly nice, and the bidding reflected the card IMO, not the grades.

Not so sure I agree...with all the stains and what looks like someone drew wavy lines around the micks name in the black rectangle. Looks overgraded to me!

We're saying the Mantles are high now -- anyone want to wager if you sold those 51 and 52's two year from now -- they would sell at a profit. In today's world -- I'll wager they would.

I thought so too on the E107s (said the guy who bought a long-sought Monte Cross ).

I was surprised that the T3 Lennox went for so much (PSA 5 for $3600) - I have a very nice raw copy that I think perhaps I ought to get graded.

As the owner of a T205 blank back I was also surprised/happy to see the Krause blank back hit $2040.

I don't know much about them, but I thought the OJ cabinets would go for more.

It depends. If they sell at an AH where nobody knows who the bidders are and non-payments are not disclosed, sure; everything goes up with those methods.

Tough to say. I really don't subscribe to the "buy high, sell higher" mentality, but Mantles have just gone nuts.

The PSA 4 1951 Mantle in REA had great eye appeal for the grade.

The SGC 4 CJ Cobb also looked dynamite.

I fully agree with Matt. Both have awesome eye appeal. Centered iconic cards like these have a life of their own.
