Default Matty McIntyre Estate Photo Reunion

Posted By: Adam J. Baxter

A little background:

All the photos originally came from an album owned by Detroit Tiger Matty McIntyre. The majority of the photos dated from around 1903-1905 and many had captions written below them, presumably by McIntyre himself. The seller had won the album from an auction house (Leland’s?) and decided to break it up and sell the photos individually on Ebay.

Well it's been about two years now since the photos from popped up on Ebay. I'm curious to know how many on the board still have these photos in their collections?

Here’s mine:

Adam,
I have 7 of these at home, including one of the groundskeeper mowing the lawn at Navin Field.
I know there was some talk about that one when they were listed on eBay.
I'll send scans when I get home.

I have a bunch...

I have about 5 or 6 others and I am always in the market for more of the photos from this album if anyone is wanting to get rid of theirs.

Joe, I can't wait to see your photos....and technically it would have been Bennett Park at the time the photos were taken...I remember that groundskeeper photo and I thought that was the best one of the non-player photos.

I have one more but couldn't get it to load up.
One of the cool things is that some of these are pasted over other pics and have other pics
glued on the other side that didn't make the grade for whomever cut them out of the scrapbook.
There are couple building shots on the back of these pics; 1 in Tampa and 1 in Havana.

Joe, who is the player in the Detroit Uni? Looks like it may be Davy Jones.

This is the Tampa players in Cuba at the Student Monument

Sam Thompson -19th century Hall of Famer

another shot of Jimmy Archer

Joe McGinnity and Hooks Wiltse

unknown -possibly Ben Guiney?

I have more that have never been scanned, but the rest are all sightseeing photos or family photos of the McIntyres.

Dan,
I have no idea who the Detroit player is. There's no ID given for him and there was no name on eBay description.
That's why I was able to buy it; no name, no one cares enough to buy it. I just liked the pic and how, with the groundskeeper pic, you can see
the look of the whole outfield fence.
The pic I have of the guys on the wreck of the USS Maine has a "Brouthers" listed. Any relation to Dan?

That is Art Brouthers who played one season (1906) for the Philadelphia Athletics. No relation to Dan Brouthers.

I think your unidentified player is Davy Jones.

I would never part with mine...at least for the time being, but it would be cool if you could round up all the buyers of these photos and put together a virtual album online.
