Default Comically poor conditioned cards....

Well, I've never been really picky about condition, but I do have some standards...Sometimes, however, I come across a card(or related item) that is just so comically bad, and the price is low enough, that I can't help myself...Picked this one up on the bay last week, and it easily has surpassed my 1/4 of a Cobb Exhibit(otherwise known as Cobb's feet) for my most comically bad item..

I'd love to see some scans/photos of the most comically bad items in your collections..

A local dealer around here has a 1990 Topps Frank Thomas PSA 2, that I've always found kinda funny, so modern graded cards that are so bad, that you can't believe they were even submitted will do as well.

David, I'm glad yo like the Walter Johnson, I was the seller. A little more on this "card"... I had another T332 and I noticed it had remnants of another stamp stuck on back--as if there had been a stack that all stuck together over time and the original owner just ripped them apart and detroyed one in the process. Anyways, a few minutes in a sink soaking and off popped that "thing" you showed. I had collected T332's for a while and immmediately recognized that it had been a Johnson, if only thay had soaked it instead originally! After soaking it I didn't really know what to do with it so I figured I throw it on ebay for a few bucks and see if someone could use it (if only for comic relief) as I just didn't have the heart to throw it away.

Thanks for commenting Rhett. I would've mentioned that it came from you, but I didn't wanna out you as the seller without consulting first.. This one is probably tops of my four comically bad items. The others being Cobb's feet, ,my '48 bowman Henrich that it appears someone drew on a halloween mask with pen(His head kinda looks like a jack-o-lantern), and my 1978 PSA 1 Eddie Murray...

These bad items are like ugly, sick-looking, stray dogs. You feel so bad for 'em, that you just have to take 'em in..

Default Sorry No Scan!

Aloha! I once sold a whole batch of 1953 Glendale Hot Dog Cards (I know not prewar) to Charles Conlon.........every card had a handlebar mustache drawn in pen on it. Chuck and I laughed and laughed at the idea that they were rare variations....... Charles was a great guy, the most efficient hagler I ever met. By the time I left he had me feeling that the cards were infected with black plague or worse, and he was doing me a favor by taking them off my hands....not to mention the 200 or so 54 Topps hockey that went with the deal (pretty much of no value at the time). Cool thread though. dave.

I like that David, all kidding aside. I feel that way about almost every cat and dog, and have usually had at least 2 pets around for over 20 years. Compassion rules!

And thanks to Rhett for identifying what was left of the unfortunate player.

I have several friends who have blogs dedicated to the worst condition cards possible...this is not the worse condition card in my collection but it is my favorite in the Phillies collection. Just really poor condition.

Still verifying this but about 90% sure it is a N332 SF Hess Charlie Mitchell with the ad hacked off:

Sometimes you take 'em the way you find 'em. These are probably the worst condition cards I own [yes, the corner is off the Sullivan]:

Generally I want type cards that have, at a minimum, nice eye appeal. And then every now and then I am just happy to have a HOF'er from a set...

Wow, Ty Cobb looks amazingly similar to Jim Bagby!

Dear Rhett,

I will always defer to your expert opinion when it comes to any "W" series caramel card (or any other alphabet series for that matter) and because of that, I actually take no offense to your Jim Bagby reference. That is your opinion, I can't change that! However, you've made a classic rookie tactical misjudgment. You see, Jim Bagby was never the manager of the Detriot Tigers! Look it up.

By the way, I'm fairly certain that Jim Bagby Ty Cobb is throwing the ball to Joe Jackson who is just outside the picture frame.

Lovely Day...

Default Brutal, but an Old Put Stamped Back!

Yes it's in brutal shape and tough to see, but this is the only Blue background E98 that I own with an Old Put Back. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Hey, It's over 100 years old! If I was that old I would probably look like this too!

Not vintage but Billy's been through the ringer, so I gave him
a holder worthy of the card.....I have no idea where I got it..

I kept this one from my early days of collecting, before I could afford a decent card. I want to say a friend bought this for around $5 and I traded for it. It's since been replaced, but I couldn't bring myself to toss it.
