Default When did Lionel Carter stop collecting?

Posted By: cmoking

When did Lionel Carter stop collecting new sets and also when did he stop upgrading or working on his older sets? For exmample, is it possible that he upgraded an e-card set in the 90s? Or were they all complete and done by the 50s?

King - In last nights Mastro there was a lot(#1033)of recent sets
he collected and it went as high as 1994. So he collected in the
90's. As far as upgrading, can't say.

ouch!

jay- man that is depressing...i knew 80's stuff was worth next to nothing, BUT it is REALLY worthless...if all of that 70's-90's stuff only sold for $1800 (and on top of that it belonged to Carter)...that means my collection of 80's-90's is worth probably as much as a bucket of nails...

i should let me dad use that pile of cardboard to start fires in his fireplace, it's cheaper than wood!

p.s.

hi king!

here is a reprint of a scd article from the old baseball card website written by george vrechek. http://oldbaseball.com/refs/carter/lionelcarter.html
i can not say this in fact but i really doubt mr. carter was into paying to upgrade, as all i have ever read or heard of him, he did not like that the cards have become investments.

From watching the DVD it appears that Lionel is not concerned about the money. Secretly, in his heart, who knows, but he has enjoyed the hobby and is ready to move on.

Thanks for the link guys. The 1970s-1990s lot really seems cheap, probably good break-up value for a dealer.
